Nobody Wants Kansas City "Scholars"

KMBC rounds-up local district rejections: "Tuition Dispute To Stall Transfers Of KC Students"

Again, if this debate was really about the best interest of students then so many local officials might really want to help facilitate an escape plan to better districts rather than developing repeating mistakes, wasting time and hoping for a turnaround of Kansas City Public Schools that has never materialized.

  1. There is no dispute. The law - if court upholds it - is specific that the accepting district is to be paid at the accepting district's own per-student rate.

But fear not. This will not come about. Stay tuned.

  3. I think this is a ploy by KCMO to lowball the area districts so KCMO can keep students from transferring. I highly doubt that KCMO is spending the paltry $3700 per student they're offering other districts according to the news.

Why should the neighboring districts offer charity to the KCMO students? They owe them nothing. They don't live in district. If you want to go to another school district, move. This is a pretty powerful motivator to move into Hickman Mills, Center, Grandview, or Independence if you live in the KCMO district.
