Rich and ugly penguins will soon live in luxury accommodations at The Kansas City Zoo thanks to a NEVER-ENDING sales tax that only a fraction of voters will pass today.

I've already covered my reasons for voting against the tax.
But I'm a realist and I know that cute cartoon characters and the pleas of happy middle-class white families on TV will ALWAYS stay winning.
And because a rather DEDICATED TKC TIPSTER has some EXCLUSIVE info to share . . . I should probably report on both sides of this thing . . .

It's not a catchy slogan and I hear the robo-lady sounds kind of shrill.

THE WATCH/VICTORY PARTY FOR THE KANSAS CITY ZOO SALES TAX WILL BE AT THE GREATER KANSAS CITY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE BOARD ROOM IN UNION STATION TONIGHT STARTING AT 7 IN THE PM!!!
Get there early so at least you can get some free food out of this tax that goes on FOREVER.
Still . . . While all of this may seem disheartening to those of us who don't think that spending money on penguins is a priority. I'd still like to encourage people to vote today despite the horrible odds for fiscal sanity to prevail in Kansas City.
Sometime around the crack of 2PM I'll manage to drag myself to the polls if only because I like a balance among the many futile gestures in my own life.
I don't have much faith in voting but Ya Mo Be There in any event.

ReplyDeleteMary O's against it, so I'm voting yes. She can't vote because, even though she knows what's best for KC, she lives in Prairie Village, which is actually a plus for KC.
ReplyDeleteI love the Zoo. I'd vote for the tax but honestly, if Kansas City has enough cash laying around to buy KCIR and the surrounding property for parkland, they surely have enough laying around to maintain the Zoo.
