R.I.P. Don Harman

Online and among the people who watch the early morning TV there's some very sad news this morning. WDAF meteorologist Don Harman has recently passed away. Word of the sad event first appeared on social media and now the Kansas City news scene laments his passing.

Message from FB with over 722 comments.

Good morning.
We know many of you have questions.
We appreciate your concern, and we consider you our friends.
But please remember that family comes first.
We're honoring that right now, and we ask that you join us in that.
Please bear with us for a little while longer.

  1. If you can't respect his family, how about at least spelling his name right?

    ReplyDelete
  2. It's spelled right, go get a hug.

  14. What? When? How?
We love don. What a loss. Condolences to friends, family, and colleagues.

    ReplyDelete
  15. No one cleared this with me. He was a good guy, as humans go.

    ReplyDelete
  16. How bout we take a truly sad thing, a death that affects a lot of people in this city, and turn it into a fucking pissing contest over the spelling of his name. What happened was sad. Let's try remembering him, his superman cosume, the car her ran into the ground something about him. If you cared about how his name was spelled you could go to the Fox 4 website and find out for yourself. Revel it, who cares! Just show some fucking respect!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Don was a great asset to this entire community. I'm going to miss him.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I was so happy to see something was on here until someone had to make a big deal out of the spelling come on people it was a nice thought leave it at that. I can't imagine how his family and friends are feeling right now. Very sad you will be missed by a big part of KC. Don had such a contagious laugh and made my mornings. RIP wish you could have found peace another way.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Trollers. Give the guy some respect.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I think this is really sad to loose someone so young. The family will be in my prayers.

    ReplyDelete
  21. He was a young guy. What did he die of?

    ReplyDelete
  22. lots of speculation on social media. Good for Tony for not getting into that speculation.

    ReplyDelete
  23. cancer?????????????

    ReplyDelete
  24. I know what is floating around and hope it isn't true. The family has all my love and sympathy for this loss. Don was an enjoyable guy and seemed to know his technical stuff. Hats off to 4 for telling viewers family comes first and respecting their privacy.

Maybe Mark Alford will be a little less harsh to his co-workers on the air now. He has a habit of bullying via smart ass comments. Mean isn't funny. Especially when you are on the air and can't walk across the studio floor and pummel the fecal matter out of him. At least this morning he is behaving professionally.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I do not think that mark bullying him is what pushed him over the edge.

    ReplyDelete
  26. just a troll. so many trolls.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Many prayers to his family and friends. I will miss seeing his big smile every morning... R.I.P. Don

  32. He committed suicide????

    ReplyDelete
  33. I saw the post on Facebook, but since I don't watch local TV that much, I didn't know what they were talking about.

I assumed someone had probably died, but didn't know who.

    ReplyDelete
  34. 8:45.

    Thanks for your pointless post.

    ReplyDelete
  35. He took the easy way out.

    Suicide is selfish.

    ReplyDelete
  36. He was a wonderful man! Depression is an illness, You will be missed Don! I know you are in a better place, so sorry your peace was not found here.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I really liked Don....his weather reports along with his on air antics & humor. His backyard cookouts, that white car of his that he took out the the race track, etc. Prayers go out to his family. We'll all miss him. R.I.P.

    ReplyDelete
  38. And do they not hound police or familys of deceased ones and try to blast their names out as soon.as they can? Kinda feel like they need a dose of their own medicine.

    ReplyDelete
  39. You know sometimes asshole you can't find another way out! Taking the easy way out- huh! Suicide is selfish??? What about all the people in ones life who make someones life miserable, you have no right to say that! So go take a healthly shit- because you are full of it! Hope one day someone in your family doesn't decide to commit suicide. Then you will understand! Do not judge anyone before looking in the mirror. Feel sorry for you and your family!

    ReplyDelete
  40. He committed suicide. I have a relative who worked on the morning news with him. She called last night about 830 pm balling her eyes out and told us. also, I'd like to meet the prick that said "suicide is selfish, for cowards". I'd like to shove a real long pointed stick up your ass. What a jerk.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Anonymous 9:00 AM Totally agree, so if you are killed in the hood, it is alright to hound the families and report live on the scene, but if it is a local celebrity they deserve respect and privacy, but screw the folks in the hood.

    ReplyDelete
  42. So he passed away last night? What in the world happened?

    ReplyDelete
  43. I believe a gun, but she wasn't sure. And lets not turn this trajedy into a conversation about racism..."the hood". whatever. Leave it for another time.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I heard Katie Horner is looking for a job! Maybe she could get on at Fox 4 to replace Don!

    ReplyDelete
  45. It's the truth.....what is the difference between reporting this death and another death? Why does he deserve privacy over somebody else? Be honest with yourself, the news doesn't care when anybody else passes away. They report all the killings ASAP

    ReplyDelete
  46. I agree with you...but it doesn't matter if it is the hood, or luxury in Leawood. just don't be blaming it only on the hood.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Who said its racism? What about the parent and child on k10? What about the kid in lees summit? They don't respect anyone else's family by any means, yet this guy needs some? Get outta here. Hes a regular guy like anyone else. Not royalty.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Anonyomous at 9:06 am said it was racism. That the news focuses only on the hood.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Ok so coming from someone who is now married to a woman that her ex husband commited suicide i can say this. The people that are hurt by someone commiting suicide like children and spouse is a tragedy. They leave behind a life of questions with no answers. The pain that one person feels that is bad enough they chose to kill themselves instead of reaching out to get help is a selfish act. You are thinking of only the pain that you youreself are feeling and not others that love you. I liked don alot. He was always a funny and energetic man. Im not sure why he was hurting so bad that he thought the only choice was to end his life. Alot of times drugs or alcohol can play a part in someones decision to end life. It leaves alot of people hurt the rest of their lives.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Nope never said it only focuses on the hood. Said there's no respect for killings in the hood. Never said it was racism.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Okay, your right not racist, but the majority of the killings are in the hood that they report on the news without any respect to the families. They don't show respect to any families, regardless of location/ethnicity/financial status, etc.., who lose somebody.

    ReplyDelete
  52. 8:02 from 7:46. I didn't mean to imply Mark's bullying pushed Don over; no one will ever know what did. I would not lay that on anyone.

I did intend to point out that bullying and meaness totally turns me off to the program and that we should all respect each other in case something tragic does happen so you don't spend your life with regrets about something you said and can't take back if someone tragically leaves us.

I really don't understand why Mark thinks snide is funny. He is constantly zinging co-workers, story subjects, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Was it a suicide? If so, my gosh, how could he be "Depressed" and unhappy in his life. He had us all fooled. Seemed happy, loved his wife and daughter. Holy Cow, I pray for his wife and daugher, Avery Jo. Surely this part of this isn't true! May GOD have mercy and Grace upon the entire family and friends and community!

    ReplyDelete
  54. i heard he left a suicide note that said he found out his wife was cheating on him and he found out a week earlier.

    ReplyDelete
  55. @9:13 My might report other deaths, but they don't mention names.

    ReplyDelete
  56. How about remembering those left behind and placing less emphasis on Don's actions?

    ReplyDelete
  57. I agree with the previous comment. I heard his neighbor had spoke with Don a few times over the past week about his wifes affair she had been having with another man and when Don found out it devastated him.

    ReplyDelete
  58. not that it's any of your business.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Seriously? Ok people... we know he's not royalty, we know that he is a TV weatherman that many people adored and welcomed into their homes every morning as they were getting ready for their day. Anyone with half a brain should realize that anytime tragedy strikes someone associated to the public line of work as he was, yes, it's going to get some major news coverage. Remember when Maria Antonia's son passed away?

Please just show some respect whether you liked the guy or not. Think of how you would feel if you were in the same boat as his family. Would you want to find out by looking on the internet that your Dad, Wife, Mom, Husband, Sister, Brother, CHILD has passed away? I highly doubt it.

    ReplyDelete
  60. ARE YOU SERIOUS PEOPLE??? The damn family knows by now and in fact im sure that most of his family all know of the tragedy. What are they or we waiting for? You say allow time so they dont find out on the internet well its a little late for that dont you think and part of the deal is when you are in the public eye you are going to be talked about especially if you do something stupid.

    ReplyDelete
  61. if you really think Mark is SO rude, don't watch their news. Mark is super funny and was BEST friends with Don. I am one of Mark's daughter's best friends and I know for a fact multiple times that Mark and Leslie watched Avery (Don's daughter) so that Don and his wife could go out on a date. If you don't really know anything about what's going on, don't act like you do.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Hell if it were someone else they would joke and show photos of the person i just hope he asked for forgiveness before he pulled the trigger because he be damned to hell

    ReplyDelete
  63. Hell if it were someone else they would joke and show photos of the person i just hope he asked for forgiveness before he pulled the trigger because he be damned to hell

    ReplyDelete
  64. When people do cheat on each other or have marital problems and that person is in the public eye we all are going to find out anyways.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I am the survivor of suicide and I know the hurt it leaves behind! Sometimes you can go get help and then getting help leads to other things all they do is put you on medicine and make things worse! So to think about what it leaves behind sometimes, that really doesnt matter! Family should think about how they treat people who go out of there way to make ALL their family HAPPY and then lose there HAPPINESS in the process! Years of being beat down, finally get to a person. Don't judge you may in those shoes one day!

    ReplyDelete
  66. So who put any of you in charge of deciding what happened was stupid or not? I hope when it's your time that everyone talks about all of the bad things, speculates on how and why and makes totally off comments about you. Karma's a bitch.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Suicide is viewed as a temporary answer for an eternal problem, really it is a eternal answer for a temporary problem. Ugh professionally I work with clients and their trying my darnest to attempt to rehabilitate. I am so sad. Let this stand out, everyone is dealing with something . It's such a shocker because we saw him smile , we saw him laugh, he looked fine ....had a job , likely not struggling ...but. all the while he was struggling , he was functional. But suffering . When people , companies, infrastructures, treat and respect mental illness as they do physical , then we can really deal with this. My prayers to his family and friends.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I know when my husband cheated on me i was to the brink of suicide myself. I was fortunate enough to have a strong supportive family that helped get me and my children through it and i managed to leave him and get a divorce and have now finally moved on.. Im so sad i know what pain he must have been put through to have done this..

    ReplyDelete
  69. If his wife was having an affair, she was really stupid. There are thousads of women out there who would love to have had a guy like Don Harman. I remember when Pat Sajak was our weatherman in Los Angeles, and I have always thought Donny had the capability to be another Pat Sajak. Suicide is selfish, yes, but sometimes people feel like it;s the only way out. It has been obvious for weeks that something was really bothering Don - his humor seemed a little forced and he seemed to be much less tolerant of Mark's being an ass. Don, I hope you found the answers you were looking for. I'm very sad today.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I don't care how any of you feel, that is the most selfish, cowardly thing a man can do. He abandoned his wife and young daughter with nothing in order to make himself feel better. His family will be in my prayers, for it is his wife who will have to carry the burdens now that he has abandoned them.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Who gives a crap about his wife if she is the cause of this mess! How can you feel sorry for someone that was having a affair and causing her husband to be pushed to the point of wanting to end it??????

    ReplyDelete
  72. 9:02.

    My family doesn't have cowards.

Suicide IS selfish AND the easy way out.

    ReplyDelete
  73. We don't even know if she was the cause. Someone just "heard". It's not like she was on the news to inform everyone... "I cheated on Don and he killed himself." Stop saying just whatever. Think about facts. All it's doing is starting more rumors. We haven't even actually been told if it was suicide.

    ReplyDelete
  74. 9:06.

Be glad to meet you and tell you that suicide is selfish and the easy way out for cowards.

    ReplyDelete
  75. suicide is not the easy way out. Its the end! People that are pushed to that amount of pain have no other choice in their eyes other than to stop the pain. Who isnt selfish in some way in life. Most people only do think about themselves and use others all the time. Whats easy about death? To me its the ultimate sign that someone needed something or some help from someone and those people failed Don.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Please, please, please...
IF suicide was actually the cause of his death, and IF his wife cheated on him (these two statements being unverified at the moment)... even IF these statements are true... please don't judge. Walk a mile in someone's shoes first, right? Life is complex. People make mistakes. People suffer from untreated mental illness. Mental illness is stigmatized in our society. Please. Show some respect. Don't blame. Thank you.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Also, who knows what was going on his life? I know a guy who had just found out he had terminal cancer; he shot himself because he didn't want someone to have to take care of him all the time and people to feel sorry for him. Were we all sad? yes. but, it was his decision. I do not find this cowardly. Selfish, yes. BUT, everyone is selfish to some degree; rather you want to admit it or not.

    ReplyDelete
  78. She's a whore

    ReplyDelete
  79. A paramedic that was on the scene has a connection with the news station and thats how the damn story got leaked in the first place.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Lauren acts like a robot today, I've heard of toughing it out during a crisis but she acts like she's cool with it all. Mark was genuinely choked up.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Instead of worring about his wife cheating or what was wrong mabey all u should celeabrate his life and be said for his daughter it wrong a little girl has to Go threw life with out a dad. i too also bitch about them showing car wrecks right after they happen and stuff but give it a few days then bitch have a heart assholes. my prayrers go out to the little girl

    ReplyDelete
  82. Lauren is only concerned with Lauren.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Love is crazy. You don't think right. Maybe he felt he was being abandon. Lossing his wife and kid to another. It's all speculation. obviously, Don need help. sometimes you don't get that help.
    Don't hate.
He was a good man. One of the reasons I watched FOX News.

    ReplyDelete
  84. 9:35.

    You're a liar.

How do I know? I'm a neighbor of Don's. He lived in a cul de sac off Locust in south KC.

He was an asshole and a problem drinker.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Wow...I was looking for more information since not only Fox, but all the stations seem to be observing some odd "radio silence" on this, but a lot of the comments here are so disrespectful. I agree that Fox should confirm and say that they are mourning his passing if, in fact, his next of kin has been notified. But to speculate as to how, as to why, and to call him stupid or cowardly and to call his wife a whore. These things are uncalled for. Our society, as a whole, has lost respect for itself.

    ReplyDelete
  86. which 9:35? I posted about being Mark's daughter's best friend... but, I didn't lie about any of that... and I've never been to Don's house... just Mark's. ?

    ReplyDelete
  87. Omg people. Someone just died. Have a little respect. What if it was your brother, son or friend? I don't care how long it takes for them to release a statement, its their business. Let's also remember he has a two yr old daughter. Leave them alone!

    ReplyDelete
  88. cross on over to the other side11/30/11, 10:15 AM

Suicide is selfish, blah, blah, blah....if you want to check out, so be it! The hurt of families, blah, blah, blah...deal with it. If it was so fucking great he would have stuck around. Suicide is the most personal thing a person can do to themselves if THEY decide that's for them. Everything else is blah, blah, blah. Who knows maybe the other side IS better!

    ReplyDelete
  89. Yes he was. I am too. that doesn't mean we're bad.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Self inflicted gunshot to the head.

Wife and daughter were at home when he did it.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Was the wife's boyfriend there too

    ReplyDelete
  92. RIP Don...you were one of the best things in media in this shithole cowtown.

    ReplyDelete
  93. wowwww.... I'm a nurse and I can tell you right now that there's this thing called CONFIDENTIALITY in the medical field.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Most insurance policies wont pay out for suicide.

So his wife and daughter are fucked twice!

    ReplyDelete
  95. Lot's of signs of alcohol usage previous to the event.

I would be curious to see what his blood alcohol level was when the coroner does their examination.

    ReplyDelete
  96. I would be curious to know why you think you have the right to post these kinds of things. like I said before, CONFIDENTIALITY. Show some respect, if not to Don, to your work.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Asphyxiation with helium. With his daughter in the house - she was crying for him when the wife came home. Tragic.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Funny thing is, his wife didn't seem that distraught. At least not proportionately to other "grieving" wives.

    ReplyDelete
  99. nigga wif BIG meat11/30/11, 10:27 AM

so...is the cheatin bitch hot or what? she gonna need sum cumfortin...

    ReplyDelete
  100. 10:24.

His daughter is an infant. The only reason she might have been crying is because she was hungry.

    ReplyDelete
  101. 10:17.

    Being a CNA isn't a "nurse".

    Or a real nurse anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  102. His daughter is like 2. she was faking like she was doing chores for Mark Alford to take pictures of one night when he was watching her.

    ReplyDelete
  103. 10:23.

Who are you? The internet blog police?

I can post whatever the fuck I want to.

    ReplyDelete
  104. 10:30 and 10:31. I'm a Registered Nurse. I never said CNA. and don't degrade a CNA because without them, I'd never get my work done. and I wouldn't mind know your name and what hospital you work for.

    ReplyDelete
  105. RIP Don. You will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Stop crying about confidentiality. When u are in the public spotlight people are gonna talk.

    ReplyDelete
  107. If he even gave a shit about his daughter, he would have at least tried to make it look like an accidental death.

Hell, he had a big pool in the backyard. He could have got "caught" in the pool cover and drowned.

At least then his daughter would have some financial support.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Paul. And I don't work for a hospital you fool. If I worked for a hospital, I wouldn't have been at his house last night. Jackass.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Nice to see there are so many compassionate and empathetic people here. Honestly, people, a man has died. His family is grieving (and some of his family doesn't even know yet). Do us all a favor and get lives.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Then where do you work for?

    ReplyDelete
  111. 10:34 said; "I'm a Registered Nurse. I never said CNA. and don't degrade a CNA because without them, I'd never get my work done."

Translation?: "I sit on my big fat lazy ass while my CNA's take care of patient care."

    ReplyDelete
  112. ok seriously, everyone talking trash on here needs to grow up. so what if they accidently misspelled his name, the point is that they are trying to honor him for who he was and his family. Mistakes are made so fuck off guys. Have a little respect for the dead. Would you like it if you died and a bunch of people were like oh f this guy he was a loser for killing himself when nobody even knows if thats even what happened. So until you do know the FACTS quit speculating and quit being immature little kids

    ReplyDelete
  113. 10:39.

    Yes, a man has died.

But, it was at his own hands. His own selfish act.

  119. Wow shut the Fuck up you faggots , its true if it were a normal person it would be all over but because its there NEWS BUDDY there gonna respect there family ..Bullshit i dont watch teh news because they are vultures that prey on peoples agony . How come theres not 20 news vans at his families house like it would be if it was any of us that shot or wife and then popped ourself .YOu all get on here and talk shit like you would do anything dont kid yourself your cowards , talking shit on the internet is the biggest most cowardly thing you can do . You want to do something go do it dont sit on here talking about what your gonna do ...As for Don Harman and his family , my heart goes out to them ..We have no idea how it all went down nor do we know what Don was going through .So why dont you all shut the fuck up and if ya want to make threats go do it to there face ..

    ReplyDelete
  120. You people need to get a life. And if you are going to quote "facts," please speak the truth. Gunshot to the head is NOT accurate. And it's none of your business!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  121. Don will be truly missed. Its a sad thing to hear no matter who it is. To the people on here saying hes a coward and selfish you ned to learn a little respect. Just because you think you would have handled thing different doesn't give you the right to judge. We all don't know what was really going on for him. so before you go running off at the mouth think about his daughter, mom, dad, and every one else in his family that is hurting right now. They will have enough pain in dealing with all there unanswered questions then to have people talking poorly of him or them.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Paramedic, if you are indeed a paramedic--- you are an idiot to come on here and claim you know exactly what happened. Ever heard of HIPAA? If you are the one who's been revealing private facts here--- and you are the one who was actually at his house yesterday--- it won't be that easy to figure out who you are. Something tells me real paramedics aren't that stupid. But if so, welcome to an investigation.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Wow..I am a 17 year old kid reading these horrible things that you "adults" are saying and I am completely apalled. This may not be sad for you..but for someone else (his family) it truly is. God hates the sin not the sinner. If you don't have anything nice to say please, don't say anything at all. I am sorry to Don's family if any of you are reading this not only for the behavior of these commentors but also for your loss because I know for you, this is a tragedy. He will be missed.

    ReplyDelete
  124. Don was a very good man and only idiots think they can call someone names without truly knowing their circumstances.

    Don, you will be missed.

    ReplyDelete
  125. The reason we post on the internet is because of something called freedom of speech. Everyone here feeling sorry for that cheating bitch can go to hell. The paramedic was there asshole so it must have been a gunshot. Amazing how you feel sorry for someone that destroyed a mans life.

    ReplyDelete

  130. I always loved to watch Fox 4 News in the morning. The main reason I watched that channel was to see and listen to Don. It is sad to hear of this tragedy. If his wife did cheat, this event will haunt here for the rest of her life. Judgement is up to God only. The only unforgivable sin is to deny God himself. He can be forgiven and can still go to Heaven. Based on so much speculation and his younger age, I am sure that it was indeed suicide, but please show respect to his friends and family, by not being so nasty or negative toward him or his wife. Karma does happen to bad people, so those nasty human beings may get theirs later. Treat others as you would want to be treated. God Bless Don Harman (correct spelling), his family, and his friends.

    HIPAA

    What Information is Protected

Protected Health Information. The Privacy Rule protects all "individually identifiable health information" held or transmitted by a covered entity or its business associate, in any form or media, whether electronic, paper, or oral. The Privacy Rule calls this information "protected health information (PHI)."12

“Individually identifiable health information” is information, including demographic data, that relates to:

•the individual’s past, present or future physical or mental health or condition,
•the provision of health care to the individual, or
•the past, present, or future payment for the provision of health care to the individual,
and that identifies the individual or for which there is a reasonable basis to believe it can be used to identify the individual.13 Individually identifiable health information includes many common identifiers (e.g., name, address, birth date, Social Security Number).

What part of HIPAA have I violated asswiper RN? Oh wait, you have your CNA's do that for you.

Your readers and posters, however, yikes.

Rest in peace Don Harmon and sympathies and best wishes to his family.

  135. I will miss Don...he was not only a great meteorologist, he was a funny human being. That's what we are forgetting here, he was a human being with problems. Do I agree with taking your own life? No. But I'm not here to judge. I pray for his family and hope that he has finally found the peace he couldn't find here on Earth.

  143. I think the 17 year old said the most intelligent thing of any of you. We all have family and I pray none of those who are being judgemental and jumping to conclusions ever have to deal with suicide personally. What comes around, goes around and we "adults" are setting the worst example for the "future of America." May Don rest in peace. Only he and God know the circumstances. It is none of the public's business. I agree the media is bad about reporting everyone else's lives, however, treat others as you would want to be treated. My prayers go out to Don's family and friends. He will be greatly missed. May God give the family the peace that passes all understanding.

  145. Shame on each and every person who judges a man for taking his life. It is absolutely none of your business, and completely up to God where he will spend eternity. You have no clue what state his mind was in or how much pain he may have been in. My prayers go out to his family and pray they never see these horrible posts you all seem to think necessary.

    ReplyDelete
  146. 11:18.

It IS our business. He was a public figure.

    ReplyDelete
  147. There is no way that "Paramedic" was at that scene. No actual paramedic would be blathering this stuff in a public forum. I mean, there might have been five or six people between Ambulance and Fire who could reasonably be a licensed trauma responder on that scene. It would be very simple to figure out which of them was doing these posting, and I rather doubt that any of them are that frigging stupid...or unprofessional. If I'm wrong, I sure hope the douchebag never has to attend me or my family on a scene.

The news actually had the nerve to go and post on a Facebook page made for her to contact them if they had any stories all this to just boost their ratings. I'm sorry but I think that her death was a bit more traumatic especially since her baby brother was there when it happened. Not taking away from Don's family's. Pain but what is good for the goose is good for the gander. News is news weather it's a member of the press or not. And they class to bring breaking news as it happens. We are all entitled to our own opinions, which included making complete asses of ourselves on this very forum...
Just remember as we sit here throwing stones and utilizing that very freedom, that what goes around comes around! So hard to believe that at a time such as this, "treating others as we would want to be treated" would be such a difficult thing to muster!

How can you be talking in some ways when a guy died and his poor family is trying to go through this tough time. Why can't you just present your condolences or just not write anything at all. I didn't know the man but no matter he died, I fell sorry for his family and wish they get through this really bad time. Losing a family member is very tough and disturbing. Have some respect for his family for God's sake

  166. First of all, the Paramedic who is posting this info-if he truly IS a Paramedic--is a disgrace to his profession AND the KCFD because this would have been a KCFD EMS call. If this person is on the level, then it'd be easy enough to figure out who he is. He can (and probably SHOULD) lose his JOB and his LICENSE over this. There are confidentiality laws that protect people from this kind of information being disseminated inappropriately. Not only is it a unethical thing he has just done (if this is true information), it is also a legal matter punishable by fines in the 100's of THOUSANDS of dollars AND jail time.
I can't imagine that a 'real' professional would find that an acceptable risk when divulging confidential patient information.
#1: don't believe everything you read
#2: If you can't say something nice, you probably shouldn't say anything at all. Karma is a bitch!

    ReplyDelete
  171. You have NO way of knowing if his wife was cheating or not, and that is nobody's business.
Maybe HE was cheating. Who knows, who cares. In any case, that is completely IRRELEVANT.
No matter the case, it's not an excuse to go kill yourself. Blaming people for your own actions is irresponsible, so how can you condone that?
    You are being ridiculous.

    ReplyDelete
  172. 11:41.

You obviously have no concept of HIPAA regulations.

NOTHING I have posted violates HIPAA.

    ReplyDelete
  173. I find it interesting that people go on here and leave comments like "You will be missed, you are always in our hearts, we will pray for your family", blah blah blah.
First of all, dead people do not read blogs. Correct me if I'm wrong...but I'm pretty sure that they do not read at all.
Why leave comments that directly address a dead person? Shouldn't you be addressing his family or the community?
    Just sayin'....

    ReplyDelete
  174. To the previous person who said have sympathy for the family when he just died all I can say is it was suicide which is not just dying like by some damn accident.

  177. It really saddens me to think that people have the time to sit around and bash someone in this time of grief!! My heart goes out to anyone who has ever lost a family member wether it be at their own hand, the hand of another or by sickness!! Look in the mirror each day and be thankful you are able to stand there and actually see yourself! Thoughts and prayer go out to the family and to the Alfords who I know where close!! Let's all try and be respectful no matter the circumstances!! No one has the right to judge.....unless your judging yourself!! One last note... Thank you to all the police, fire department and military for working to make our lives a little safer!!!

    ReplyDelete
  178. Wow...Have some respect for Don and his family and friends. Some of the things on here are downright rude and hurtful, not to mention vulgar. And the name calling...seriously...Someone has died. It doesn't matter how or why it's still very sad.

    ReplyDelete
  181. The "paramedic" on here doesn't have the correct facts! I caution those that believe him/her to rethink that. And, again, it's none of our business as to the cause of death.
I cannot believe that people waste their precious time on this nonsense. Share condolences for the family or get back to what you should be doing......working, caring for your children, etc. This is wasted time that you will never get back!

    ReplyDelete
  182. She was cheating! One of his neighbors who his wife had confided in had told him of this weeks ago. Its no secret. You act like everyone should feel compassion for a woman who was a slut. Come on how would you feel if your wife was doing someone else and living a lie

    ReplyDelete
  183. I am a surviving spouse of someone who committed suicide and I wasn't going to comment, but when I see people saying suicide isn't selfish obviously have not walked in the shoes of that person. It is the MOST selfish act one could do. I am left to answer unanswered questions to our 4 boys who were 16,14,11, and 9 at the time. It has been 3 years and it still effects them and me as well. I have moved on,but after giving 20 years of my life with rehab after rehab, losing a cpl jobs due to drinking, having to move in with his parents, and him cheating on me I gave my ALL and all I asked for was his sobriety. Honestly was that to much to ask for?.. I gave everything I knew how and he thought of only himself not OUR boys in fact he shot himself while on the phone with me.. How is that not selfish??.. Get real people if you don't know or walked in the shoes then keep your mouth shut and quit trying to judge others!...

    ReplyDelete
  184. You provided identifying information...how is that NOT a violation? And actually many people at kc view this blog and if not I'll make sure the right people find it

    ReplyDelete
  185. Yes, Paramedic. You just violated HIPPA. You identified yourself as someone who was there. Previous posts identified general vicinity. You posted what you believed he died of. THAT is a HIPPA violation because the SUBJECT of whom you were speaking WAS IDENTIFIED. THAT part was the violation, then you went on to say what happened to him, medically, which you legally cannot DO without consent of next of kin.
Both actions on your part are illegal and immoral. You obviously need to read up on the legalities of your profession.

  186. Stay classy Kansas City. Nothing like a good tragedy to bring all the slack jawed mongoloids out of the basement. It takes alot for you clowns to stop digging in your ass and sniffing the finger for long enough to type out some of the most vile shit possible. Has it dawned on any of you who are crying about media disparity in the hood, that this guy wasnt a thug piece of shit, killed by another thug piece of shit? Thats the difference. There are countless deaths by suicide committed in this city, it is rare for the news to report it as such, regardless of who it is. And Alonzo, I'd watch that slanderous bullshit if I were you. Be a shame if you got sued for your free 10 year old car and scooter. Fuckin scum bag moolie. Hopefully none of those welfare drawing semi retard kids of yours ever kill themselves.

While it may be true he took the easy way out, I personally never spent any time in Don's shoes, and its not my place to judge. Spelling? yes its nice to be correct but its not the issue. And as for the hood, Bet I know what color you are. Really, the race card, My grandaughter's half black so don't even go there. Mark's not a bully, that what friends do and it made for good tv, sorry you don't have a friend like that in your life. Don was a dork, he new it and was proud of it. His wife, well thats personal and it needs to stay that was. Sadly most marriage's fail and usually both parties share some fault. I'm not sure, but if Don was catholic one of you would be blaming his priest for molesting him as a child. Makes me glad I live in the sticks and don't have to deal with any of you. you all can KISS MY REDNECK ASS. My prayers go out to his many fans, friends, & co~workers(I'm sure the make~up crew were real busy this mourning,Hay spelling guy I ment to spell it mourning) and all his family, for what ever reason Don had, he left behind a daughter and I"m sure she will miss her daddy, and thats really...really sad.

  196. 11:57.

How did I provide "identifying information"?

    I'm curious.

    ReplyDelete
  197. TedW: it's a violation because the person who provided the care to the patient is prohibited from publically identifying the patient OR what was medically wrong with them. Cause of death is not determined by a Paramedic, the police, or any layperson. Only by autopsy would cause of death be determined. Until it is determined that there is no criminal element involved (ie: a killer) then anything else is other than a cause of death listed on a Medical Examiner's report would be purely speculative.
For example, as a hospital employee caring for YOU in the hospital, I am legally prohibited from calling up the press or even telling your adult son what is wrong with you or what you are being treated for WITHOUT YOUR PERMISSION TO TELL THEM. If you are incapacitated from giving this consent (as in: in a coma or DEAD) then I can't give out information AT ALL. Healthcare workers are bound by these laws and those of us who DO this work KNOW this though i could understand how a layperson may not know these laws. It's to protect YOU and YOUR FAMILY's right to privacy. It's the moral thing to do, no matter HOW a person ends their life. To give out that information...it's unconsionable.
