TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! OCCUPY KC REPORTS THAT KCPD GIVES THEM FAIR WARNING TO TAKE DOWN THEIR TENTS!!!

Check the latest from OccupyKC SEEN FIRST HERE ON TKC!!!

"The Police came back again today to the occupy site around noon. The officers stated on the record that they would begin issuing tickets and removing tents. Arrest will be made if people do not comply and remove tents. They said this is the last warning. They could come back at any time and if we are not prepared then it will be a messy experience for everyone involved.

This is our 1st amendment right. We should not have to bend to the will of permits, fees, and intimidation. I encourage more people to come out and stay with us. The current occupiers that stay daily all agreed to stay and protect camp from being destroyed, even if that involves arrest or tickets.. Thank you all for your continued support and involvement in Occupy KC."

  2. I'm not even a huge supporter of them, but for fucks sake we don't need media filming people being gassed in KC for no damn good reason. Guess I'll call tomorrow and annoy the reps with my opinions. I hate calling the twits, but what the fuck else can you do?

    http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/jurisprudence/2011/10/rules_of_occupation_how_not_to_get_arrested_at_the_ows_protest_i.html

It does the movement which is protesting people/businesses being above the law from acting as if the law do not apply to them. Be smart and don't give the opposition which has been making up shit real ammo to use against you.

Rather than 24/7 operate in shifts, just walk along the sidewalks if that is all the law allows.

During the early days of the labor movement organizers would send out word of free food in a given city where demonstrations were planned. They made sure the bums & hobos knew. And they showed up in mass, making it impossible for the police to arrest because the jails wouldn't hold all the people.

Don't think that would work today...

  4. This is bullshit. City ordinance forbids tents and camping in Parks. Lock the bums up. The three hots and cots they get will probably be a step up.

  5. I was there, this is not what the police said. The kcpd has been great and has worked with us. They made sure we are aware the tents are against code and they could issue tickets in the future. The same sergeant comes out almost everyday and basically answers all our questions.

  6. camping can be done without tents. It is cold but is done all the time by street people. Healthy, young people can survive. Get a good cardboard box, find a company willing to donate them. Break them down during the day and put in cars. If they get wet, have the company donate more. Move around so the grass is not destroyed. Clean up after yourself. Do not urinate or otherwise in public. Thank God for a sensible police department, unlike Oakland or Chicago. I would like to see the movement move to a more corporate area, where it would have more effect, or to the Plaza where a) corporate shops have done away with locally owned stores and b) the KC Board of Exchange is located. There is a park nearby and there would be a lot more visibility.

  7. It's an easy way for the cops to "look" like they are doing something.
It's for the media. When you can't get the murder rate down, and can't find missing babies. You go for the obvious. Kick people out in the "open" who are "protesting" and the focus goes from the Years of murders and violence; to another headline.

"KCPD gets "occupy" KC off City property." LAME.

They have too much trouble arresting the violent criminals so why not make their stats look good with a bunch of arrests of peaceful people.

  9. So Tony TALKS A GOOD LINE about principle, but when push comes to shove, he thinks people should save their own skins and go quietly into the night.

The Mexican way of doing things. You really AREN'T an American, are you?

  11. phreaknik is right.

I went down there Sunday. It is so wanna be 60's shit, but the kids and the folks who are there, are inoffensive. There is NO reason for the police to go bust there balls.

Its a very small mess, and will sure as hell go away with cold weather.

The cause itself, when it sticks to originally stated priorites, protesting the control of American wealth by oligarchs and plutocrats, is valid and tennable in my opinion.

I listened to the speeches, and Jesus, the fuckers are all over the place. They need a charismatic voice with a defined message that is not co opted by every petty ass agenda that the usual trough feeders promote.

Its pathetic watching these folks get side tracked and diverted.

They seem very nice. I talked to a bunch of them.

This city does NOT, I mean NOT need the cops, to go down there for any fuckin reason, other than to make sure everry one is fine and have a nice day.

The only thing I saw ANYONE get animated about in ANY way, was some kids in a tent on the South West quadrant promising NOT to move their tent.

    They are like little kids.

Leave them the fuck alone, we got big problems in this city, and this is just a waste o ftime.

  12. How about if they serve notice on Genaro Ruiz for non-compliance with the City Charter first?

    ReplyDelete
  13. There no First Amendment Right to camp out in a public park. That just shows how either clueless or silly some people can be.
The police's job is to enforce the laws, and we really don't want the PD to have the ability to pick and choose those that they do. So if someone has a problem with the law, they need to go talk to the folks who pass them, in this case the city council. They can either have the current ordinance enforced, or change it, but understand that if these folks with a political agenda can camp out in THIS park, anyone can do the same in ANY of the city's parks.
This whole thing is changing from something that had some credibility into just the latest creation of a whole new group of make-believe victims, of which this society has way too many already.
    Time to go home, wannabees!

    ReplyDelete
  14. By the way, Tony is right, there is NO reason to get your asskicked for this.

It would be different, if the protest was more cohesive and stayed on message.

This protest is just a symptom of general, and validated American malaise. Thats cool, but it is not, at this point, imo, worth getting your ass kicked.

  15. So the KC FOP has decided to throw in with the Banksters?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Great, just what the new(?) mayor & police chief need--the bad reputation that now haunts Oakland's leadership. Let them stay! (KCPD is part of the 99%, after all.)

  17. Occupy KC was fake ass anyway. Go back to Shawnee park with your drum circle.

  18. Enforce the law. Fire Genaro!

  19. By the way, teh real figures on the transfer of wealth are easy to find, although there is some variance.

In 2000, when George Bush took office, 10% of Americans owned 22% of the wealth.

By 2010, 34.5% of American wealth, was owned by 1.5% of Americans.

The rest of the breakdown is reflective of a dissapearing middle class and the prominence of oligarhcs, plutocrats and kleptocrats running the show.

I am not dismissin the 99% slogan, I am sure you can twist the stats to reflect what ever you would like in your head.

The actual stats DO relfect the destruction of America as we have known it in my life time.

This is bad for everyone, INCLUDING the 1.5%

There are myriad variables that affect and cloud the central issue.

That said, rest assured, there is a galactic dissconect between the folks who are now, and used to be, what was called the middle class, and the folks who now make decisions 24/7, backed by immeasurable wealth and power, which in turn affect that same middle class negatively.

  20. Been down there too...some of the message good, most is stupid and incoherrant. American law enforcement agencies will not let the movement gain additional traction. Now that other city's have cracked down (without massive media outrage)like Oakland has the camping and shit is over.

    ReplyDelete
  21. You know, I would like to clarify.

The cause, that of the unfair, unequal distribution of wealth, by way of birth and blood, as opposed to sweat and effort is a great cause and its timing is perfect and appropriate.

THIS effort, and the way it has played out, corrupts the actual important message, and THAT is why I think it is not worth gettin your ass kicked.

The effort, by ineffectual and misguided folks, God Bless 'em, needs to coalesce into a more organized effort.

  22. Just because you may not comprehend the discontent being expressed does not invalidate the discontenter's right to voice it. It's all about free speech. Isn't freedom of expression what makes blogs so useful to both the writer and the reader? As long as they are peaceful, let them be.

  23. Amazing that Tony thinks economic justice isn't worth fighting for, but ridding the city of the scourge of red light cameras is.
