ReplyDeleteMe, I spend my 8pm hour watching Rachel Maddow when she's on MSNBC. Darla doesn't even come close. Rachel makes news, Darla just gets it offa Drudge Report and like Fox, he only runs half the news. The conservative half.

RM, I get the impression you're no Darla fan. And you make some good points. However, she's the only one that gives tony air time. And that counts for quite a bit. Since I enjoy Tony's commentary I always try to listen when he's on.
ReplyDeleteI do what BZ suggests, listen 2, 3 4 times to her. IF I don't hear something interesting in 30 seconds, I'm gone.
ReplyDeleteRarely do they have something worthwhile, or a full treatment of their particular issue. Tony's not so well versed on national issues though he certainly knows KCMO ones.
She's more well read than Sarah Palin but thats certainly not saying much. I prefer Rachel who brings on good guests, has a research staff and a network behind her. Darla lacks all of that. And one more thing. Most of BZ's callers are mental midgets who know LESS than Sarah Palin and thats hard to accomplish. Waste of my time.
Local talk radio is pastime radio, IMHO, just people visiting about what they know nothing about. To hear themselves talk.
Sometimes so stupid they ARE entertaining but I need more than that from media. I admit that as a news junkie, I read a lot and know most issues a day or two before the Darlas get them on the air. I need to learn something new from my media.
After awhile, "simple" just gets boring and Darla just isn't well read enough to carry an entire show without a great deal of repetition. I get frustrated when they omit important facets of issues because they don't know about them. Darla's knowledge is thin and she tells everything she knows...over and over.
Moreover, some people are so gifted they can talk for hours, not repeat and keep everyone's interest with knowledge. Rush can do it even tho he's a nutcase conservative.
She's not even that gifted. One thing I like about Rachel is that she knows she doesn't know everything so she brings on expert guests and asks them what I'd like to know...and actually lets them answer.
As opposed to so many know-it-alls like everyone else on MSNBC (Chris, Ed and Lawrence) and Fox's Hannity and O'Reilly. They're like KMBZ hosts... they just use guests and callers as stage props, not to learn from, but as token foils.
