The Kansas City Royals Ruin Their Players

A WaPo blog post is mostly about a dearth of pitching talent in Major League Baseball right now. However, one of the best stories from this year's local excuse for a baseball season is rehashed and it's STUNNING TO SEE HOW LITTLE OUR KANSAS CITY TEAM CARES FOR PLAYERS: "Royals reliever Vin Mazzaro, who gave up a team-record 14 earned runs in 2 1-3 innings on May 16 against the Indians and was sent to Triple-A Omaha moments after the final out."

"Kansas City manager Ned Yost said he was trying to save his bullpen."

This basic lack of skill for talent development is part of the ongoing failure of the team . . . That fact that you might disagree only means that it's actually the screwed up culture of Kansas City that contributes to constantly mediocre pro-sports teams.

  1. David Glass likes to hire the exceedingly young and exceedingly old, it is an old Wal-Mart habit.

He knows his customers are stupid, and his business is overwhelmingly subsidized by the government: Wal-Mart and The Royals.

Life is good when you are counting money.

  2. Please stop giving us these posts in which you show how little you know about sports. Kind of makes me wonder about your masculinity quotient, because even guys who just pretend to pay attention know much more than you.
And you should at least mention how Mazzaro did in his most recent game. Since you clearly do not know, he pitched seven innings of shut-out ball and picked up a win.
It has happened to many teams this year, not just the Royals, as your linked story clearly points out. Are you going to claim Tony Larussa is some punk, no-nothing manager?
You are clueless about almost everything sports related.
