The Mike Burke-King Hershey Connection (ew)

Prime Buzz: King Hershey resumes work as Port Authority's general counsel; Mike Burke denies role in decision or legal matters . . . Do potential Kansas City conflicts muddy the election or have we passed a giant big-ass point of not caring? You d-bags tell me.

  1. We had our four years without the developers and their mouthpieces calling the shots. The primary showed us that we prefer our rulers to be part of the clic. K-H back in the saddle won't influence Tuesday's vote.

  2. King Hershey, not Burke. Believe it or not, there are probably other attorneys that work there. Obviously, no other firm stepped up, so until they do then it looks like KH is the only one capable.

  4. This is old news.

There were two law firms that were qualified per state statutes to perform services for the PA.

When the PA voted to discontinue sending general counsel work to one in February, the only other one they could LEGALLY use was the other one - King Hershey.

As to a "Joanne Collins conflict", maybe Helling should take a little time to check the record of the meeting when the change was made to see if she voted in favor of King Hershey.

This would serve him much better than relying on tips from delusional old men and flakes for his "scoops".

  5. Where was his so-called "experience?" Shouldn't he have seen this as a problem?

  6. Burke wasn't involved in this situation, he hasn't been involved at King Hershey for nearly six months.

  7. Mike Burke is the soul of integrity, and I am sick of the lack of quality journalism in the STAR. Shameful.

  8. What does Burke say about unsolicited bulk e-mail?

  9. With just a 15% turnout in the primary and most likely not much more next Tuesday, most residents of KCMO ARE past the point of caring. Whay should they? The gang at 12th and Oak has really nothing to do with them and doesn't care what they even think until around election time.
Low turnout; targeted groups that will benefit; same old song.

  10. 4:41p.m. What do you mean that according to state statue there were only two firms qualified to do the work. Please be specific as to what state statute this is??? How is it that KH is the only other firm in town "legally" qualified to do this work? Come on, give me a break!

  11. Old machine and King Hershey. Go Mr. James Go.

  12. It is KING Hersey.

  13. Mike Burke...."the soul of integrity". Stop drinking the stupid kool aid. Burke is a pandering insider who has put the city on the hook for millions in bad tiffs. Look at the facts. The Star is blasting him because they have proof that his integrity is lacking unlike your loyalty.

  14. 5:46, are you high??!! Mike Burke has NO soul and NO integrity. There are fewer than a dozen lawyers in that low-down firm of King Hershey and you know no one except Burke is doing Port Authority work. Joanne Collins also has no integrity...she supports King Hershey and her boy Mike.

You want to take shots at Burke, King Hershey and development attorneys, that's fine.

But you aren't fit to wipe the shit off the shoes of Joanne Collins, son.
