  1. No big deal just layoff more City Hall employees to hire more FD employees. The Fire Department needs more employees for BBQ and grocery store runs. (At Taxpayer expense of course.) gotta love the unions.

  2. We're told there's a budget crisis:
    Yeah right.

    There's plenty of money at City Hall;
    When City Hall wants something.

    This is another reason to vote against the E-tax. Get rid of the slush fund. Stop Government waste.

  3. Don't you think through attrition and retirements that there are going to be a few positions open up. Don't get your dirty panties in a wad...

  4. *You must be willing to pretend that Louie and Sherwood are not crooks.

    Well, that rules out most sane people.

  5. Here's an idea take the people making the food runs to the grocery store wearing fire fighters outfits and make them real fire fighters instead of errand boys.

  6. Like any organization, you are bound to have retirements, people quitting, etc... how the fuck else do you replace these people, moron?

  8. Kansas City government is so screwed up one minute there's no money, next minute theres a pension crisis, now they want to hire fire fighters while laying off at city hall. We can only pray that once their heads stop spinning that their face is forward.

  9. Damn people. The fire department has to fill vacancies created by guys retiring. Relax. In the long run it will save money because a new firefighter gets paid a whole lot less then a 30 year vet.

  10. The fire department has to keep an up to date eligibility list in the event vacancies come open (due to retirements,etc.) This happens every 2 years regardless of the economic climate (per city charter). Notice the major advertising are yard signs and not billboards.

  11. "a new firefighter gets paid a whole lot less then a 30 year vet." Be afraid, people in EMS,be very afraid.

  12. Ems will be all fire department soon. Another good reason to move to Johnson County.
