Kansas City's Mayor has only a couple of policy victories throughout his entire tenure and in the past two years his accomplishments pretty much boil down to nothing more significant than PR Stunts.
Sadly, Mayor Funky is so unskilled and incompetent he doesn't realize a simple fact:
EVERY TIME KANSAS CITY'S MAYOR FUNKHOUSER COMPLAINS ABOUT "ERODING THE POWER OF THE MAYOR'S OFFICE" (OR SIMILAR NONSENSE) HE SIMPLY POINTS OUT HIS OWN INABILITY TO COMPROMISE OR WORK AS AN EFFECTIVE LEADER!!!
Put simply, Mayor Funky's Kansas City Crybaby Routine has grown tiresome and there is NOBODY rushing to his defense not already on his payroll.
It would be disheartening if it wasn't already a fact of life: Mayor Funky is a non-factor and his whining on the subject only further points out this fact.

ReplyDeleteIs the council sttttttupid? They can't appoint anyone to anything without the Mayor's appointment. Forget for a minute about Funky and look at the act itself. This council does not know their role in City Government. They are constantly organizing these revolts and nobody seems to care because they like the target of the action. This council, as a group, decided early on to displace the Mayor in favor of a ruling party of 9. I don't defend Funky in any of this but I have to look at their actions aside from him. Worst Council ever. Where's Barnes first term council when you need them?

ReplyDeleteBut not in the case of the Port Authority.
They are a political subdivision of the State, similar to the Police Board, only appointment to the PA is by local legislative body i.e. City Council (as opposed to the Governor).
