Mark Funkhouser 2006: "I'm not interested in the ceremonial aspects of the job at all"

Check out a bigger, better version of this image from Eric Bowers.

Meanwhile, I'd like folks to remember that at the beginning of his term Mayor Funky touted the fact that he wasn't going to be a "ribbon cutting Mayor."

And yesterday, folks at the new Metro Patrol opening noticed that he "parachuted in and attempted to take all of the credit." Sadly, for a Mayor who doesn't like cutting ribbons, it's one of the only things he does well and he seems to be doing it with increasing frequency as the election draws near.

Mark never understood that the office of Kansas City Mayor is a ceremonial office; therefore, he was never really interested in holding that office.
