TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! MAYOR FUNKY'S OPPONENTS COMPLAIN OVER SCHOOLS FIRST FAILURE TO FOLLOW MISSOURI ETHICS COMMISSION GUIDELINES!!!

This morning, The Star's Dave Helling wrote a well-researched, well-sourced and informative article that completely missed the point about the SERIOUS CHALLENGES facing Mayor Funky regarding his Schools First spending of taxpayer funds.

I know that Helling didn't get it because the same people who talk to him, talk to TKC . . . But far more candidly. Probably because I think direct quotes are for pussies. For me, this blogging thing isn't all about social media . . . It's about taking gonzo to the next level. Sure, it's nice to make friends but there are only so many divorced women I want to see naked.

Anyhoo . . .

Here's what Helling either didn't want to write or deliberately overlooked:

The end result of Schools First is a $100 Million Bond Issue put before Kansas City Voters.

Missouri Campaign Finance laws say that any person or organization pushing a ballot initiative must form a campaign committee.

Billionaire Rex Sinquefield formed a committee for his E-Tax fight so that big money he has funneled into the cause is recorded.

The Heavies formed a committee because they're backing Council Candidates and pushing forth their political cause.

Meanwhile the Mayor's most ardent critics are saying and hoping MEC will notice . . .

MAYOR FUNKY IS PUSHING FOR A $100 MILLION BOND ISSUE USING TAXPAYER FUNDS WITHOUT SETTING UP A CAMPAIGN COMMITTEE!!!

It gets worse. Helling dutifully documents that taxpayers spent at least $9,173 according to the Mayor's office. Anybody who understands basic math knows that doesn't begin to cover the cost of billboards all over town and mailers sent to just about everybody. I know that Mr. Peanut does a great many good things for Kansas City and his heart was in the right place on this one, but if he's funding the campaign for a tax on $100 Million then he shouldn't have a problem with that donation being documented by The MEC.

In both word and deed and integral part of Schools First is a campaign for a bond issue to go on the ballot and so far that effort isn't following Missouri campaign regs. It figures, The Mayor and his wife have never played by the rules and in this instance Funkhouser is attempting to screw with local finances and remain accountable to no one.

Developing . . .

  5. All the media: newspaper, radio, townhall meetings, sprint has KC residents on Funkhouser overload and its not helping his chances of re-election at all. Weve had enough.

  9. They should have known that. An indication the mayor isn't asking for advice, and isn't receiving good advice.

So when does the Missouri Ethics commission step into action?

  11. The Orange Revolution should end in Orange Jumpsuits with "Prisoner" written on the back.

  12. The Ethics Commission must receive a complaint from local citizen before they investigate or take enforcement actions. Neither newspaper articles nor blog postings are enough to launch an investigation.

Man-up Tony. Take an official action rather than just throwing rocks.

File a complaint with the MEC.

  14. Rep. Hughes has the best line in the entire article. I'm liking him more each day.

  15. Ethics Commission is a waste of time. State's Attorney General is a waste of time. Local prosecutors are a waste of time. Each of these office holders have been formally asked to investigate blatant nepotism but refuse to do their jobs.
