The T&I Committee meeting we were "talking" about earlier this morning was EXTREMELY tense.
Surprisingly, Council Lady Jan Marcason came out in support of Acting City Manager Troy Schulte and wanted to institute a "structure" instead of new department for CIMO.
COUNCIL DUDE TERRY RILEY AND BILL SKAGGS WERE ARGUING WITH EACH OTHER OPENLY!!!
At one point, Riley told Skaggs to lower his voice. But Skaggs persisted.
Shulte made an appearance and pretty much begged for the Committee to move on . . . Councilman Riley lectured the committee regarding the nature of compromise.
Cathy Jolly had the best line of the session when she ever-so-cutely asked "What's the difference?" Her arguement: Everybody answers to the Council at some point.
The T&I Committee held the Ordinance for yet another week (3rd time) and Kansas City will continue to argue about how much power to give City Managers that some of us don't like.
For the record, it's interesting to see the Northland come out strongly for Troy Shulte in much the same way Eastside once supported former City Manager Wayne Cauthen as Kansas City remains hopelessly divided no matter who is in charge.

ReplyDeleteSkaggs is one of the few council members of character and integrity. Very by the book. He confronts corruption and calls foul fairly pretty much against anybody who deserves it. I can imagine he is counting the calenders days to kiss the council goodbye for good. Politics is such a bloody and brutal game.

ReplyDeleteTerry is leaving the city anyway around it. The question is whether he will have access to the County tax system or whether he will just be a drag on a private business.

Terry is in this for alternative reasons. He has promised the director position to one of his buddies. It's that simple. Anyone who follows him is clueless.

ReplyDeleteI don't know which is more disgusting from the comments I've read: Terry has a girlfriend; John Sharp's physical appearance (or anything else about John Sharp), Terry going to anything "County" other than the County Jail... there is so much to dislike.
ReplyDeleteThe guy that Terry promised the job to used to work at the City and got canned. He's got lawsuits out his hind end. He begged Troy for his job back, but Troy refused to reverse the decision to can the guy and he's desperate and went to Terry. And we all know how Terry likes the ideas of "payback" and "payoffs" since he does it all the time.
Good for Marcason for hanging tough, and to Skaggs for standing up to that thug/crook Riley.
Cathy Jolly... please go get Baby Einstein videos and watch them or open a book that wasn't written by Danielle Steele. Educate yourself, you fool. You know nothing, you do nothing, you simply take up space. Oh, and serve as a robot for Steve Glorioso.
Can't WAIT until the next elections. At least Terry will be gone for sure. Sharp and Jolly need opponents... come on, 6th district citizens... step up to the plate!
