Kansas City Unfairly Expects Local Black Politicos To Answer For Plaza Riot!!!

There is a really racist and despicable tactic being used to tarnish Kansas City's African-American political leaders in the aftermath of the Plaza Riot. Reactionary pundits are calling for all of Kansas City's Black political leadership to answer for unruly teens rioting on the Plaza organized by text messages.

USING PLAZA VIOLENCE TO ATTACK KANSAS CITY BLACK LEADERS IS NOT ONLY CYNICAL BUT ALSO ILLOGICAL AND PROBABLY RACIST!!!

Get it straight, Plaza Rioting wasn't a political protest, it was a bunch of dumbass teens. The political smear tactic is more than disingenuous, it's shameful because it draws no delineation between the total sum of African-Americans in Kansas City. For some uneducated folks -- all Black people know and/or talk to each other and they fail to realize there was no political element for this Plaza ruckus.

IF Black leaders need to apologize or explain Plaza rioting then TKC ALSO DEMANDS THAT ALL WHITE POLITICOS APOLOGIZE FOR:

Fanny packs

Glee

Mostly white male serial killers.

The music of Nickleback.

This is a fundamental mistake that Kansas City makes in our racial discourse . . . The effort to shame an entire community for the actions of a few is a cornerstone of racism and intolerance and probably why I think most Tea Party participants are out to deport me and my grandma.

Tragically, this kind of simplistic and easily defeated rhetoric is what comprises most discussion in Kansas City and it's part of the reason this town stays losing.

  1. if you quit calling out all white people as racists, maybe they'd quit calling for the black commentary.

Actually, most respectable people (black or white) would speak up to denounce the actions of unruly teens in their community.

Maybe that's the difference between east/west, black/white...whatever. Some communities hold THEIR criminals accountable. No turning a blind eye, not wanting to get involved.

  2. I am truly curious as to how many of those unruly teens (and preteens) faced tough questioning or received discipline from loving parents who will make sure the kids aren't there in the future?

  3. Gulliver, I am truly curious how many of the complaints that are coming to the city councilman are actually not from adults that were there, but from parents of some of the unruly mob, and their poor little innocent baby got sprayed by pepper spray. Y'know, them being nice young men from next door and all....never been in trouble...

  4. For every young person making a fool of themselves that night, there were tens of thousands somewhere else doing something productive or minding their own business. It's not society's responsibility to entertain everybody and it certainly isn't anyone's legitimate decision to hurt others and trash places because they feel "bored". It's way past time for people, young and old, to step up and take responsibility for who they are and whatever actions they take. It's also way past time for elected and appointed officials and other sectors of the KCMO community to be much more proactive in meeting their responsibility of providing public safety for all residents, not just those in certain parts of town.
How can we be surprised when thuggish behavior and crime spreads throughout the city when the city government is perfectly content to allow two residents per week to die violent deaths by gunfire EVERY WEEK OF THE YEAR.
Outraged? We all should be. And we should be much more concerned with all the homicides than with the fact that the Plaza horse carriages had to stop running.
    Call the mayor: 816.513.3500
    Call the police chief: 816.234.5000
    Get involved!

  6. To hell with Local Black Politico explinations. Let the rioting turds parents explain what their children were doing on the Plaza last Saturday night.

  7. Have the Police been to every HS to explain that misbehavior will be a trip to juvenile detention until their parents show up? That could be LONG time and such might be quite a deterrent.

  8. Dumb ass teens is the WHO. Not the WHY.

It was a political protest. I think you're just being too narrow in your definition of 'political.' It wasn't dem versus republican but it was definately political.

Issues of haves versus have nots. That's political. Issues related to wage disparities, absence of viable business east of Troost. Also political.

Economic cause yes, but it wasnt an economic action by these miscreant kids. It was a POLITICAL action. And political entities are dealing with it.

I don't expect 7-900 black kids do this wilding in their part of town and grope women in their neighborhoods.

The Plaza was a target. The participants wanted to make a political statement of their unhappiness about KC's apartheid. Its why the Plaza was targeted, as opposed to 18th and Vine or 75th and Prospect.

I would not be suprised that police presence to keep blacks broken up and unassembled in Westport, and dress codes in the P&L district had some to do with it.

They went for the crown jewel of white kansas city. It wasn't at all accidental and if you think it was, you need to get out more.

USING PLAZA VIOLENCE TO ATTACK KANSAS CITY BLACK LEADERS IS NOT ONLY CYNICAL BUT ALSO ILLOGICAL AND PROBABLY RACIST!!!

What the hell does THAT statement mean? Of course it's logical. If people are going to appoint themselves in leadership positions, they will be held accountable for their successes and their failures.

It's not cynical at all. Maybe you need to run both CYNICISM and RACISM through Google because I don't think you know what they mean.

You hold KC government accountable for damned near everything within the city limits as a matter of editorial policy.

Why can't that be done about a group of citizens and their 'leaders'? Minorities have leaders. Majorities don't. Minority people step up and purport to speak on behalf of that constituency.

And when they stutter and don't declare the obvious problem, they damned well should be held accountable.

Issues of miscreant youngers are logically directed at parents. Where's the outrage?

I tell ya where it is. Leaders serve at the pleasure of their constituencies and they're not going to criticize the hands that feed them and keep them in power.

  9. Hey Tony, the consensus is that most of these kids came from the same districts that these black politicians represent. How is it racist to ask them to talk to their constituents and ask them to take action. It's different in their community b/c in the burbs the schools could be used to diffuse the problem but not in KCMO.

  10. The reason why people are calling out black leaders is because across the city the leaders are condoning the punks behavior.

The black leaders are now trying to blame the police for what happened on Saturday.

Black people have a uncanny knack of condoning piss poor behavior if the person is the same race as them.

  11. Seems to me that John Sharp is the one blaming the police and the last time I checked he was white.

  13. From the Black Forum, Blacks built this country and we got nothing for it.

You can watch Travis Smiley's, "Black Forum" by Google or CSPAN archives.

It was very insightful and well worth the time to understand the mindset. All the big names were at the table.

What I'm hearing/reading is chaos is wanted by those in power/bankers and will be provoked if necessary. The Plaza could be a harbinger of that. Philly has gone through similiar times.

  14. tony,
if police don't crack down on crime, you bitch about it. if they do, you bitch about it. Bipolar much? Or just dumb?

  15. John Sharp is not wrong. The police did make matters worse. I was there. The Police overreacted.

  17. Seriously dude, what isn't racist to you ffs?

Black leaders should denounce the rioting by black teens on the Plaza. The fact they lay silent speaks volumes. Are they silent because they want to see more rioting of innocent white people.

It's clear that the highest legal office in this nation turns a blind eye towards black violence on whites (i.e. New black panthers voter intimidation)

This is the beginning of the end. This country is becoming one big cess pool of dog doodoo
