When I think about the newfound interest that a few white women in Waldo have recently shown regarding Kansas City Crime I'm so awestruck by their hypocrisy and selfishness that I feel like shutting down TKC. Seriously, I thought this town was just a little bit better than JoCo and other rural areas that only make headlines in cases of MWWS. Still, for years the white enclaves of Kansas City proper have collectively sat on their hands while a yearly massacre involving young African-American males on the Eastside has taken place but only now that there are a few white lady victims will these people move into action. Think about it: Dumbass dog parks were the last thing that had the white ladies of Waldo riled up.
Yesterday there was a sketch released of the suspect that didn't look like anybody in particular. In fact, it looked more like The Creature from The Black Lagoon than any human walking around Kansas City. The artsy drawing was even signed and seems like nothing more than a symbol of this town's lingering fear of Black dudes who don't go out of their way to stress that they're not a threat. Splashed across every TV newscast and local web page . . . The image was more boogyman than any real visual aid to help identify a suspect. I refuse to run the image because I'm not going to be a part of a self-righteous lynch mob that's mostly interested in nothing more than touting their own importance above every other victim of crime in this town. For the record, I'm not downplaying anyone's suffering I'm simply criticizing the superficial outcry from a community that was content to stay silent while their minority neighbors were the victims of far more deadly crime.
Like it or not, time after time the Greater Kansas City area and our media have demonstrated that the only thing that can raise interest and provoke action is the prospect of a white woman in trouble as if cowtown life was nothing more than crappy horror movie where wide-spread carnage isn't really important until it impacts the well-being of the protagonist.
Kennedy's Bar & Grill Pub in Waldo will host a fundraiser for this massive effort to save white broads above all else. A simple question reveals the priorities of these newbie crime activists: When was the last time any bar in that enclave did something to help prevent Kansas City crime? This shameful self-interest is simply an affront to anyone who is serious about reducing crime in all parts of the metro.
Sadly, when TKC accurately points out obvious instances of SUPREMACY there are only infantile reactionary responses leveled back by mostly anony cowards. Thinking about the hypocrisy in action here evokes too much cognitive dissonance in the minds of most media watchers so that the idea is dismissed or attacked with racist overtones . . . Which is kind of ironic. Even worse, my incisive wit and cutting edge commentary is sometimes met with embarrassing displays of tokenism that even make me uncomfortable to watch.
Still, there's an opportunity here: TKC is all about solutions. The Waldo Black Guy Lynch Mob could attain some credibility if only these newbie white lady crime activists sought to curb violence throughout the metro and not in just their enclave . . . Anything less just looks stingy. There's an opportunity here to unite Kansas City against the very real threat of crime. Unfortunately, just like TKC so many people in this cowtown really only care about white women.

ReplyDeleteThat's a good point. The friends of the victims were white in the KMBC story but they had their faces blotted out. But you could tell. Do many black women live in Waldo? that's the question Tony needs to respond to.

ReplyDeleteThere is a "bad guy" that has been identified...because the women spoke out...there is a description of what to be on the lookout for. Even if you think it is a bad description or too vague of a description, many will think it is better than no description.
Many people in the neighborhoods that have so much crime, will not speak out. They will not say, "Hey this guy, this is who you are looking for." I'm not saying everything is being done that should be done...but I don't think that the police and media are the only problem.

I agree with all above who are exactly right - this is a neighborhood that is cooperating with authorities and none of these crimes are "revenge".
