In the interest of full disclosure I think it's important to note that Kansas City's greatest PR Dude Will Gregory is getting married to a really nice lady who gave me a bottle of Tequila last night . . . It was an unexpected gift in return for a snarky post announcing their engagement. Even more important to denizens of Kansas City's political scene . . .
WILL GREGORY WILL NOW BE ADVISING CORDISH ON THE P&L DISTRICT AND PROBABLY DOING A LOT OF WORK WITH THE DRESS CODE DISCRIMINATION HOT MESS!!!
This will be one of the biggest challenges faced by Gregory and despite the fact that I like him, it's going to be tough.
Even better . . .
WILL GREGORY (PROBABLY JOKINGLY) OFFERED TKC "AN INCENTIVE" TO TAKE IT EASY ON THE P&L DISTRICT!!!
It was a cute exchange, he said something like "So, what do you want? I'm not saying you're going to get it. But what do you want? A car?"
I wasn't going to take it as an insult because Gregory has been a good sport about the fun we have with him on this blog . . . Even better, I offered him some free advice on WHAT NOT TO DO in his new consulting role.
There's a lot of talk that the New P&L District Boss Kevin Battle is better and more "in touch" . . . That's seems to be the same kind of typical liberal low expectations of minorities that causes so much racial strife in Kansas City.
KEVIN BATTLE IS JUST AS CLUELESS AS EVERYONE ELSE WORKING FOR CORDISH WHEN IT COMES TO THE FIGHT OVER A DISCRIMINATORY DRESS CODE!!!
Case in point . . . Battle recently hooked up with the Mexican Consulate while trying to keep the local Latinos in line . . . This lame move is akin to me getting in touch with the Polish Embassy in an attempt to talk to Brookside.
I'm not sure if Battle was a part of this one, but he's a member of the same organization that recently offered "dine out cards" cards to African-American clergy and activists in exchange for participation in a "dress code oversight board" that quickly fell apart.
TO WIT, TKC ISN'T INTERESTED IN ANYTHING THE P&L DISTRICT HAS TO OFFER!!!
However, I did accept the Top Quality Tequila from Will's sweetie because a hobo like myself would be silly to refuse liquor . . . Also, Gregory's bride-to-be is charming, Southern and very sweet . . . So much so that I didn't have the heart to tell her that second marriages like Will's have a divorce rate of more than 60%.

Will Gregory would be the best thing to happen to Cordish since it opened. He'd be the only one to help breathe new life into that place.
All press is good press - especially when you have to compete with balloon boy, Tiger's mistresses and KC's usual news hum-drum.
Even Will Gregory can't the clueless Cordish crowd, particularly Blake and David!

Cordish just wasted more money because it still won't work. They refuse to address the real issues that keeps generating bad publicity for them. Until they do that, there is nothing no high-paid spin doctor can do to fix it. I thought Philips-West was doing PR for Cordish anyway?

Will is a good guy, Cordish did the right thing by hiring him. I just hope he doesn't drink the Kool-Aid.
too bad you have yet to come up with a real profit model. Cordish just has to wait you out T. I've told you this before.
Will is obviously desperate if he is going to work for those assholes. When your corporate strategy is to annihilate your local competition and operate above the law it is difficult to get the lipstick on that pig!

Battle is a good guy, but Cordish calls all of the shots from Baltimore. There is a reason that the previous guy bailed as have so many others. The PR guys will get to come up with ideas, but when it comes down to making the tough decisions they will pull the rug out and go with what they want.
Get a life, all of you that regurgitate Cordish on a daily basis! The Power & Light District is the best thing that's happened to Kansas City since the early days of the K. C. Chiefs. If you have never been to the District,refrain from repeating what you hear. Cordish handles problems as they arise. Visit the entire District and remember to dress appropriately IN THAT ONE-BLOCK AREA WHERE LIQUOR IS SOLD IN THE NIGHT CLUBS. If the handful of ministers spearheading the march on the District could have had their way in secret nogotiations, your soul might have been saved as a gift. Bring in another conversation for the New Year - something positive and uplifting. Or,consider getting on another bandwagon or horse and plan a disappearing act. There are those of us that love Kansas City!

P&L is a great project with a huge amount of potential. It absolutely was needed. Kudos to Cordish for making it happen. That said, the owners of Cordish are tone deaf and uncaring about anything but the daily bar take. If anythign brings them down it will be their arrogance and unwillingness to listen to anyone in each city they open a party zone in.
