TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! KANSAS CITY WITHOUT POLITICAL LEADERSHIP IN THE BLIZZARD AFTERMATH!!! KCPD OFFICERS FORCED TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR SNOW REMOVAL!!!

Kansas City is just now digging out from the X-mas Eve Blizzard of '09. And we've learned a lot about the state of the City during a minor crisis.

KANSAS CITY POLITICAL LEADERS DISAPPEARED WHEN THIS TOWN NEEDED THEM MOST!!!

Mayor Mark Funkhouser's failure when it comes to snow removal is most disappointing since he promised more attention to basic services and a "city that works" during his last lie of a campaign.

But there are some more important details that I just acquired through a chance Quicktrip run-in with some AWESOME KCPD Officers who (surprisingly) read this blog. Yes, I was buying snack cakes and Boulevard Wheat. I didn't want to blush and admit that I'm an even bigger fan of theirs and I know for a fact that they're the best police force in the region, Midwest and anywhere on Earth for my money . . . And because I've had suburban po-po pull guns on me for nothing more than a bad attitude. But I digress.

Here's the sitch:

After budget cuts its worth noting that KCPD resources to deal with the snow have dwindled. Early this Saturday morning KCPD had cruisers trapped in the snow and needed the City to help them out. KCPD was told, "They weren't a priority" and were left hanging.

So . . .

KCPD OFFICERS WERE FORCED TO PAY OUT OF POCKET TO GET THEIR CARS OUT FROM UNDER THE SNOW!!!

Luckily, the private tow company flagged down by members of the KCPD were friendly and charged extremely low rates . . . But this is yet another example that Mayor Funkhouser only leads by lame PR stunts on his schedule. He'll mow laws for cameras or pump gas for press during an election campaign and he even advocated for police funds (after TKC set the trend) but when it comes to really putting in work he is noticeably absent.

Kansas City needed politicos willing to work off the clock, willing to ignore their families for the holidays and coordinate City Services during the Biggest Blizzard this town has seen in a generation . . . Sadly, there weren't any politicians willing to put in an extra effort during X-mas time while members of the KCPD were left to fend for themselves.

Kansas City and our police force deserve better than current class of politicians currently in office who all but disappeared during an important test of City Services.

Do you go to the new Blvd QT or the one on Main? Main is still my fave T.

Bullshit!!! The worst Tweeker tow guy don't do that. You lie...

Anonymous said...

Really? Prove a KCPD cop paid cash for a tow. Please.

KC budget is so screwed they better get used to it.

Won't the City Council go out and shovel?

Jan, Beth, Cindy and the others said...

We don't care. Shut up and vote for us again. Stupid people!

(Only Louie Wright's street gets plowed.)

7:44 a.m. -- why do you think Beth doesn't care?

Does anyone with a cell phone cam know where Louie Wright lives, it would be interesting to the rest of KC to find out whether Louie's street was plowed. I am sure Tony would post the pic.

It would also be interesting to see the streets in front of the homes of the City Manager, the members of Council and the Mayor.

Post em!

Would that be "on duty" police officers, or all the officers with take home cars going to the grocery store?

8:54 beat me to it.

I've been out every single day, had no problems, seen very few cars stuck and was not able to discern much difference between Kansas and Missouri streets.

Now it might be different if I were Tony driving a low rider with bald tires to one of his weird Mexican holidays no one else cares about.

Beth needs to spend more time in her synagogue!!! Now that we have again learned how much Flunkhouser and Beth and the other City Council Members care about snow removal, the best way for Council Woman Gottstein to help out would be for her to spend a week praying at her New Reform Temple for now snow! The Rebbe there is named Cukierkorn... she must be friends with him. Or she can summon Rebbe Itzler, the even more powerful Chabbad Rebbe.

Pray for no snow Beth! Off to the schul you go!

anon 910AM... I guess you don't know how to read and must be sightless or maybe even a deaf-mute... the newspapers, blogs and tv and radio stations have all been busy reporting mutliple wrecks due to the streets not being plowed and salted. The City itself has warned people not to drive do to hardardous road conditions.

Have a nice day though :)

"KCPD OFFICERS WERE FORCED TO PAY OUT OF POCKET TO GET THEIR CARS OUT FROM UNDER THE SNOW!!!"

REEEALLLY! How many Tony, one, maybe two officers out of how many commissioned officers on the force? Good lord - more broad-brush bullshit.

"Worst blizzard in a generation"
Give me strength.

Get yer freakin facts straight.

11:11 - thank you. With all of the whining you would think we had 25 ft of snow. I will eat my hat if even ONE ON-DUTY KCPD paid out of their pocket for a tow. They may have taken a fast tow from a private tower who happened by, but seriously, this is just stupid. People in this city go crazy if they don't have a plow on their street 3 seconds after the first flake drops.

The winds made the storm bad on Thursday night, but we really did not have a huge amount of snow. The City leadership just ignored its duties.

There was nothing "historic" about this storm. The snow should have been cleared.

Funk and the council need to pay at the ballot box, then fire Troy.

Sunday 12/27... County Club/Summit Street saw it's first plow. Doesn't seem to be much slat on the street though. Could it be that KCMO doesn't have any road salt? I was at Church so I didn't see what went on.

K.C. The city that works to steal your tax money so they can turn around and give it to some rich white guys.

It's only a couple of inches of snow. Quit whining.

I'm not whining. Oh, I forgot to mention that my whole sub-division was plowed about 10 times yesterday and 3 times already today.

I am also a member of a large suburban cabal with thousands of members who enjoy spending time each day making fun of the idiots who live in K.C. and the people they voted for.

We have to get our E-Taxes worth out of you guys every day.

Ho Ho Ho.

Why don't you guys sled down to Funks house in Brookside and wait for him and his fat wife to cum outside and throw snowballs at them.

He He He

Beth does not care. If Beth cared she would have been applying heat to Shulte's fat ass in a public venue until the trucks started to roll down both arteries and residential streets.

Beth is hiding with the rest of them. She does not have a clue about how can government.

All Beth cares about is improving her social standing.

This sounds more of a problem for Cathy "red light" Jolly. Cathy likes the photo ops of the new regional jail. Why wasn't Cathy providing the funding? The Mayor was in favor of eliminating the funding for our major league(ha ha)teams. Cathy did not support this she was for funding the Chiefs and Royals. Maybe Cathy needs to be held accountable for this.

I don't feel too sorry for police having to pay for something. When the work an event as security, off duty and on(in uniform) they insist on being paid in cash--they get paid a lot and don't pay taxes on it.

335PM... the rumblings around town is that Beth has found a new partner who is mightily plowing her. If this is true, why would she care about anything else?

To the schul with you Beth!

I wonder how much these morons are spending on the World Cup Soccer bid? Snow removal money versus a pie in the sky soccer festival. Better that Flunk and the Council invest in a critical municpal chore and each be given $250 and a free round trip taxi ride to the casino of their choice.

Flunk, why did it take you 3 days to get a plow to Country Side Homes District? And then when it showed up, it didn't lay down any salt???

For all of the bitching going on in this blog, I don't see anyone in any district (except michael fletcher) jumping up to take the job. Put up or shut up.

Hey, 07:26, I think it would be great if someone would accidentally publish your computer ID... I think you should be fired. And banned. That msg was out of line and sexist.

Were I someone from city hall, I'd ban Tony from all events until he exercises some reasonable judgment. And especially I'd have the IT department at shitty hall turn in any users who email TKC, as well as post the emails on the bulletin board with the user ID's of the pc's who sent them.

Ya should be smart enough not to shit where you eat... and know that if you got busted for that level of disloyalty, you'd never find work beyond what retail pays.

Yup, its reasonable that city hall plug the leaks. And give people like Beth someone to file suit against.

To inafunkaboutthefunk - the answer is the City is spending $0 on the World Cup Bid. The costs have been paid for privately.

I know this as I am helping to lead KC's bid.

David Ficklin

and PS - it's not a pie-in-the-sky effort, it could very well become reality. If you want to learn more about how you can help, please give me a call.

I appreciate all the griping about KC's politicians, but would also like to point out there there were many, many City employees that missed their entire holiday weekend by working around the clock shifts to try and keep the primary travel routes open. The storm was just too prolonged due to wind and more snow, to get to all the residential streets. City trucks from public works and parks & recreation have been out since Thursday, and in fact, are still out right now!
I, for one, appreciate the efforts of these folks. Thank you.

What a bunch of horseshite.

The cops are lying.

Taxes are ridiculously high and what do we get out of it? A sharp stick in the eye!

Time for a new strategy.

saw the Funk at the Apple store tonight around 545pm...perhaps his means of communication had broken.

yea, Squid shoved it down his throat They had to fish it out.

It means he needs a new really expensive phone that he can charge to his campaign committee.

Anonymous said...

Maybe Flunkhouser used his first IPhone to try to dig himself out of his house... not the snow, but the assortment of waste and refuse in the Shabby Shack? Let's be real, he's not paying for the IPhone out of his pocket like he will be after the next election when we will have a new Mayor.

Anonymous said...

a new mayor will be like a rebirth for kc. Kc deserve better than the person in the Mayor's office currently. He has done wrong to the people and he does not care.
