Jackson County Stadium Tax Could Be The Worst Investment In Kansas City History!!!

The Chiefs are a pathetic, mediocre team undeserving of inclusion in the NFL. Sadly, the broke-ass people of Jackson County will pay nearly ONE BILLION DOLLARS for the privilege of hosting this football embarrassment while revenue brought into the County from the franchise is difficult to prove at best. For the most part, smarter people than TKC have noted that subsidies handed over to sports teams/stadiums by municipalities show no positive economic impact and sometimes even a negative effect.

The Chiefs just aren't competitive and I'm almost convinced quarterback Matt Cassel is throwing to the other team.

Even worse . . .

It looks like next game against the Cleveland Browns might be even closer earning a blackout.

Really, is there any reason to watch the Chiefs? Like a newly divorced woman on the prowl, every season starts with a bit of excitement than then usually ends up in some pretty ugly beatings, close calls and horrible, lonely disappointment.

It's not good football, more like a comedy of errors with the last laugh on anybody who has seriously supported more than a generation of losing.

Looking at half-naked woman is worth that tax, no.

I just want to know how does a 3-10 coach, on his way to 3-13, keep his job? Cut your losses and fire Haley, he is a bad coach. Without the distraction of LJ or Bowe it is clear Haley is a retard.

You can tell the desperation Haley has as he is running Jamal Charles into the ground. He has no other offensive plan than Jamal charles.

Did KC draft any offensive lineman last year?

The Chiefs will come back eventually. Unfortunately the $350M wasted on the albatross of an "update" is gone forever. It's not impressive to the avg ticket holder. If your not a Major Corp or woman looking for a restroom not much is different.

No the worst investment would be the city's 1,000 room hotel. The City has to keep up with County.

The City of Kansas City still throws a million down the drain by giving it --yes giving it ---just like you do to a beggar. You get nothing from the beggar and we get nothing from the Chiefs. "They will come back" not in your life time unless you are 15. The size of the money needed to "hire" new guys is too large for a losing team to ever get back up. It will have to be sold to a corporate tax right off company who want to dump a BILLION in salaries to get the gladiators necessary to start over.
Besides the Hunts make more money losing then they could winning.

I think $27 to park at Arrowhead is reasonable after receiving taxpayer funds.

    Everyone loves a begging billionaire.

It's fraud and theft, plain and simple.

The county gave them the money and in return the Chiefs were gonna give the city an NFL team. They took the money, but then proceeded to give us a team not worthy of the Arena League. That is fraud for financial gain.

All NFL teams have down years where they can't catch a break.

A few select teams in the NFL and MLB are run as though they are toys for their owners to play with. The Chiefs and Royals included.

Search your memory back to when you were a kid and think of some pro sports teams that are always on the losing side and might get lucky and make the playoffs as a wild card once in a blue moon.

    Atlanta Hawks
    Seattle Mariners and Seahawks
    Texas Rangers
    Golden State Warriors
    Sacramento Kings

I could go on and on, but what really makes these teams stand out in my memory is that they were losers when I was a kid and they are losers today.

They have no winning tradition and the owners are more than happy to add "Insert your league here" owner to their signatures.

The Royals and Chiefs have been on this list for decades with no relief in sight.

Hunt and Glass have no plan whatsoever to get their teams over the hump. They do have a plan as to how they can make money on their investment and one of those plans involves sticking it to the taxpayers by any means necessary.

They are enabled in their quest of mediocrity and profit by our elected and appointed officials.

They don't think of the future and are surely shooting themselves in the foot.

Look at both teams along with their poor records in the last 20+ years and then think about your own childhood in K.C.

When I was a kid, the Royals were in the ALCS every single year it seems. The Chiefs not so much but they did make some attempts in the 90's.

When I grew up and got a job making my own money, one of my leftover dreams from childhood was to be able to afford season tickets at the "K". I never could afford a whole season, but I did go to a hell of a lot of games.

After winning the World Series in '85, the Royals didn't win like they did when I was a kid, but at least they were competitive up to 1990 or so.

I still went to games because I had those wonderful memories from childhood of the Royals kicking everyone's ass almost every year, but as each season came and went, the Royals just got worse and worse.

They got to be so bad that I finally took the hint and quit going. They weren't even close to being competitive and going to the ballpark became a lesson in suffering. My suffering. Kansas City's suffering.

The Royals of my childhood, whose exploits I still remembered and cherished had turned into the Royals of reality today.

I asked myself why they couldn't turn this perennial losing around and start winning again? Then it finally dawned on me. The reason they keep losing year after year is because they don't care if they win. They don't care if I go to a game. They don't care if they finish 100 games in the hole. They don't care if their current manager-of-the-week is unskilled and unprepared to step up to the plate and win.

They don't care if they give the millions of our hard earned dollars that we give them for parking, concessions and tax money to players that were washed up a long time ago.

The Royals were going out of their way to try to make me hate them and to keep me away from games at the "K". What else could it be?

Here we are almost 40 years after the Chiefs glory years and almost 25 years after the Royals and they have at least 2 generations of kids who have grown up in K.C. only knowing that we have 2 teams that call themselves professional and major league who do nothing except bring in people who cause problems in our community, alienate the very people who should be filling their stadiums, make horrible decisions regarding players and coaches and like clockwork, toss out subtle threats to us about moving their teams unless we give them more of our tax dollars.

It took me way too long to figure this out, but here's what both teams are telling us by their actions.

They do not care about fielding a winning team.

They will not hesitate to threaten us with relocation unless we give them more money to waste on sub-par players, coaches, management and their own private enrichment.

They do not care that they have alienated their legions of fans.

They do not care that they have pissed away millions of our hard earned dollars making horrible decisions.

They do not care that they have lost at least two generations of sports fans who grew up in K.C.

They only care about separating our dollars from us by any means at their disposal.

They are so greedy and so full of contempt for their fans that they go to great lengths to keep the money flowing in, but refuse to do the same when it comes to fielding a winning team.

I didn't watch the Chiefs game yesterday because I knew the outcome before they even played. If the Chiefs would of just let things be we would of been treated to an alternative game of much higher quality with much better players and coaches.

What we got from the Chiefs was them going to great lengths to get the blackout lifted so they could continue to cash in with their commercials and artificially prop up a meaningless no-blackout record.

    How 'bout this record.
Longest streak of no blackouts by a team who has more losses than any other team in it's division.

They were willing to do anything and everything necessary to help their sponsors and stop the blackout, but are not willing to do the same to field a good team.

If the Chiefs and Royals don't care about winning then why should I be expected to care and support their teams?

Both teams are an insult to our city and metro area and I think it would be for the best if they just closed up shop and slinked away, like the "lower than a snake's belly" parasites they have become.

They do nothing for our quality of life. They do not have a positive impact on our communities either. All they do is take, take, take. they give nothing back.

When we question the quality of leadership, coaches, players and decisions, we are met with vulgarity and derision from those they employ and immediately brought to task for our level of commitment to their teams.

It's obvious to anyone in the country that they're losers, but we continue to have the leaders in our communities more than willing to give them whatever they want so we can all say that we live in a major league town.

How major league is it to have 2 teams that lose as much as our teams have done in the last 20 years?

I don't think any better of Cleveland because they have 3 major league teams and I doubt Clevelanders give much thought to the level of prestige that the Chiefs and Royals have given us.

Prestige is all fine and good, but just because you spent a few thousand dollars on your toilet doesn't make you a winner. Your neighbor got his at the ReStore for
$50, but in the end when the chips are in and the cards are flipped over, all you really have is a shitter for both of you.

Both teams are just large millstones that are dragging the whole metro area down while at the same time sucking the dollars out of our pocketbooks and wallets for an unquantifiable measure called the prestige of being a major league town.

If these teams are an example of the kind of prestige the NFL and MLB bring when they come to town, than I gotta say, No thanks, were fine. Go try the next town.

We don't need either one in Kansas City. We're successful without them. I pity the next town though.
