Cindy Circo's Cauthen Suspension Excuse

We have heard from Council Lady Jan Marcason on the Cauthen suspension.

Mayor Funky gave a few terse comments.

Now, THANKS TO THE BEST TKC TIPSTERS, we have Council Lady Cindy Circo's explanation for The Cauthen Removal.

Smart people say she deserves credit for her choice . . . Others feel she was misguided.

SOME OF THE MOST IMPORTANT TKC TIPSTERS WILL BE CLOSELY WATCHING THE CAREER PROGRESS OF HER FIREFIGHTER HUSBAND IN LIGHT OF CINDY'S RECENT VOTING RECORD!!!

In any event, here's here excuse from a recent newsletter:
New Leadership at City Hall

Over the past several weeks, there has been an enormous amount of media coverage regarding the change in leadership at City Hall. I, along with five other councilmembers and the Mayor, voted for the removal of City Manager Wayne Cauthen. the As with any other major issue that I have dealt with over the past two years while serving as your city councilwoman, I have provided my supporters and constituents the facts regarding various positions. I feel this is one of those decisions where I want to set the record straight and provide to my constituents an explanation. Particularly since the media is digging for the scoop and conspiracy theories are abundant regarding this issue.

First and foremost, I must commend Wayne Cauthen for his leadership these past several years in his ability to jump start the heart of Kansas City with the rebuilding of a desolate downtown and the development of the Sprint Center, among other accomplishments. Wayne Cauthen was the manager we needed for the job at that time.

However, we all know that our city is in a different state than it was when Mr. Cauthen arrived in Kansas City six years ago. We are now in the midst of an economic downturn and our city is facing a $60 million dollar deficit. Management practices that worked five years ago do not work now. As with any government leadership position, elected or appointed, different styles are needed for different times in our history. It is the nature of the position.

Secondly, I want to dispel the rumors that "deals were made" and that I am "aligning with the Mayor". This was one of the hardest votes to cast during my term because I also respect Wayne personally. The only "alignment" that was made with my vote was with that of my own beliefs about what is right for Kansas City at this time. When I was honest with myself and looked at the current needs of the city, I know that a change of leadership was necessary.

You may agree or disagree with my position, and I respect that. As you know, I have always had an open door and hope that you will feel free to contact me whether you support or oppose my positions. I wish Mr. Cauthen the very best in his future quests. I also look forward to working with Mr. Schulte and what he brings to the table.

Sincerely,

Cindy Circo
It seems that the lady doth protest too much and it's bad news for the 5th District that this statement seems to be the worst of all.

Cindy can't even write a grammatically correct sentence.

Thus speaketh the licensed cosmetologist. Get your story straight Cindy. We were in just as dire financial straits in 12/07 as we are now. Wayne was the right guy to give an extended contract to then but the wrong guy now? Read the back of the nail polish bottle Cindy. You should have been doing all those nails in a well ventilated area.

Geez, Galt, what is your problem? Are you secretly Steve Glorioso, angry because your man Wayne is gone, and your sweetheart deals with City vendors might be coming to an end? Oh no, wait... a socialist like Steve would never select an Ayn Rand-created character for a blog name.

What do you mean "... doth protest too much"... she isn't protesting at all, but simply stating her position in a direct way. Hardly protesting.

anony 5:39,

I'm angry that people like you keep electing vacuous zeroes like Cindy to office.

You're just angry because my criticism is completely accurate.

anon 5:39,

What is your problem with Galt? Is Cindy NOT a licensed cosmetologist? Did she NOT vote to extend and increase Wayne's contract? Did she NOT reverse her position? Is she NOT a complete moron married to a firefighter, with a legislative assistant ALSO married to a firefighter?

The truth hurts bitches!

Being a woman, I find Cindy Circo an embarrassment to politically correct women! Obviously the author of this letter is not college educated.

The fumes from fake nails CAN cause all kinds of neurological damage. We need to keep a close eye on her.

I think her explanation is fair. For some people, nobody can do anything right - that's all the gripers.

I don't care what her stated reasons were, her vote to get rid of the hack Cauthen was the right thing for the City. Good job, Ms Circo.

I agree with 10:36... getting Cauthen out was the right thing at this time... two years ago is time long gone and all we could/can do is look forward. There would be nothing to look forward to if Cauthen were still here, destroying our city. Good for all of them... esp. Johnson, who got kicked in the face by the Mayor and just days later, put politics aside and did the right thing for the city.

John Galt (Steve), Your criticism in your post was certainly not clever or spot-on enough to incite anger. I simply inquired why a statement like that would drive you to write such a hate-filled, nasty comment. If would appear that my comment about you losing sweet deals hit a little to close to home to be comfortable.
Perhaps your name is designed to throw people off the track, so you hide behind an Atlas Shrugged character... certainly no one who knows the character would ever confuse the two of you.

Holy crap! When did this happen? Please tell me that Cauthen didn't move the city to Kansas. I don't want to lose all those IQ points and have to start voting Republican.

Anyone with half a brain could see five years ago which way KC was headed. The bad economy just hastened the problem.
