TKC Weekly Power Rankings!!!

Just a quick look at the movers and shakers in Kansas City this week . . .

Places

1. P&L District - (up 3) Nobody had more headlines. No district is about to undergo more change.
2. The Mayor's office - Nobody was there this week except for Friday.
3. Crossroads - Now that the weather is cold we no longer have to pretend the place is relevant.
4. Outback Steakhouse - Closed in Mission. AWESOME TKC TIPSTERS note that it went the way of the dodo with little fanfare.
5. Independence - They proved to have more influence over Kansas City elections than anywhere else.

Politicos

1. Patrick Tuohey - (down 3) Maybe the only anti-tax voice in Kansas City.
2. Pat O'Neill - (up 2) He won the COMBAT Tax deal with almost no voter turnout, despite the fact taxpayers lost.
3. Calvin Williford - (up 1) Credit where it's due.
4. Jeff Roe - (up 4) He runs the Mayor from afar and that's not a horrible job.
5. Emanuel Cleaver - (down 3) Lukewarm support for Obama is the smartest move right now and a sign this political survivor knows what he's doing.

Newsies

1. DeAnn Smith - (up 7) Behind the scenes, she still has all the dirt on Mayor Funky.
2. Micheal Mahoney - His blog has been a lot better as of late and much more frequently updated.
3. Kris Ketz - (up 3) His facebook story made me smile.
4. Mike Mansur - (down 3) He reads this blog and cares about this place and that is why he fails.
5. Maria Antonia - (down 2) She's still hanging in there.

Feel free to make your own suggestions . . . But this list is probably the most accurate indicator of the zeitgeist so far.

I don't think you get out much, Tony. Anybody could have put out that list. Are they the newzie movers and shakers or just the high visibility ones whose sparkle is likely to grab your attention.

I expect the real newzies who have power... other than Mansur, none of them made your list because you don't know who they are or what they've done.

Most of those people are front people, made by television personalities. They don't do the work. Don't break the stories. They're TALENT, not journalists.
