TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! SIGNS OF KANSAS CITY AGAINST COMBAT TAX RENEWAL!!!

A very special thanks to AN AWESOME TKC TIPSTER who sent some Anti-Combat sign photos from around Kansas City which reveal that the push for the COMBAT Tax Renewal might not be such a slam dunk.

What impresses me is that these aren't paid consultants or supporters or other people getting a cut of KC Tax money . . . Just people who want to spare Jackson County from yet another tax push through.

These anti-combat signs have been seen at Southwest Trafficway, Wornall, Liberty Memorial, Main Street, Penn Valley Park and Broadway.

Even better for the Internets . . . There seems to be a growing online movement signaling that the average person on the street might understand this tax ram through is a ripoff:

Helling at The Star reported on the Kansas City blogger response.

Dangerblog has a fantastic essay on the subject.

Dan had some great insights this morning as well.

And I can't help think that this special election just for the COMBAT Tax Renewal might have backfired on County Exec Mike Sanders and his Cream Puff eating "gal Friday" assistant Calvin Williford.

With the few KC voters that will turn out for this election . . . A great many of them might see through propaganda and decide to Vote NO and wait for an audit of this Kansas City pork fest that isn't nearly as sexy as it seems.

All signs point to no.

A no vote is justified. Politicians don't want a high turn out of disinchanted republicans and democrats next year so they put this on the ballot this year. What's wrong with a little scrutiny? Why do you fear a high turn out? If this is a worthy tax, it should be able to stand on its own.
Also, Alvin Brooks just robbo called me. I'm voting no on this mf.

Did the political operative Pat O'Neill do himself a favor by putting together such an awful ad campaign? Does the failure of renewal allow him another pay day? When this tax vote fails tomorrow how soon will the county rehire O'Neill and at what cost?

Republicans vote, and Republicans will deep-six this issue. The truth is chipping away at JaCo politics . . . 80 dollars a year per household for what? Crack whores maligning the honorable efforts of our servicemen and servicewomen? Good job, Dumb Ass O'Neill.

Hey, don't blame this dumb ass garbage on the Democrats. This is purely a Mike Sanders ego trip.

This was only a way for Sanders to pay his political cronies, like Pat "KC=Iraq" O'Neill, in an off year election. Corrupt as Hell.

There was NO need to have this issue brought before the voters this year. They wasted $800K of our money.

The Yard Signs being stuck everywhere really was offensive. I would say send a message and vote No since we have a year and a half to renew this tax.

Ditto on the chorus. Voting NO tomorrow because I'm sick of paying for cronies getting rich off my paycheck.

I'm not in your county, but I hope the tax is voted down. I'm really not impressed with the "War on Drugs" and I see it as just a prop-up of money into the law enforcemnt/prison industry.

Less government, means less government. That includes this. Sorry, times are tight ... health care and paying off one's bills are more important. Not a good time to be paying for things we really can't afford. I'm sure the law and order types are for it just like they're for continued wars around the world.

That's becasue there's money in it for em.

Sanders is a miserable failure. I can't tell you how many people are furious with him spending near one million dollars of OUR money, NOT HIS money for his own political ends, for an election to re-up a corrupt tax. Who is going to run against this asshole in 2010?
