I was talking with a very smart TKC reader last night . . .
The scuttlebutt at the Courthouse:
COUNTY EXEC MIKE SANDERS IS THE SUBJECT OF RIDICULE GIVEN THAT HE STOLE THE VAST MAJORITY OF THE COMBAT TAX SPOTLIGHT!!!
Let's completely overlook the fact that the COMBAT Tax victory was mostly the result of fired up Independence voters on a spending spree while apathy and the NO vote ruled the KC urban core area.
A bit of history: The tax is usually pushed by Jackson County's Prosecutor but for the most par Jim Kanatzar was relegated to the background of the effort and his victory speech didn't even make the TV news on any local channel.
Even Kathyrn Shields let her subjects in the COMBAT administration get a bit face time in the local news for the efforts . . . Which is one of the many reasons Sanders is our favorite cowtown micro-celebrity.
Nevertheless . . . The COMBAT Tax Renewal was The Mike Sanders Show . . . And that has a great many of his subordinates fuming.

Sanders took the spotlight because he ran the election. Period.
BTW, COMBAT won in KC with 75% of the vote. The "urban core" supported it bigtime.
Sanders is a glory hog no doubt, but always remember what happens to hogs.
Ya, they get 71% in their elections.
Of course the same tax passed with the others Waris and Shields and looked what happened to them great future Sanders.

Good to see this said outside the of the courthouse, because we have been 'whispering' it down there for many years. But nothing new to us, this is this Sanders' mode of operation on everything. Hey guys, "Emporer Sanders has no clothes!" And more people are seeing it. The rumbling about his true character and lack of integrity is creating quite a stir. The circle of people who see him for his true colors is growing and people are talking about it. He has used his greasy double speak one too many times and in his arrogance, he foolishly continues to let people see his lack of integrity. He is blinded by reading his own press. It's the little nerd boy who finally thinks he became cool....... but the fact is that he never got cool at all. Look in the mirror, Skippy!
