Relief for Non-Factor Funkhouser
NBC Action News reports on a big nothing of a story:
"On Wednesday, Kansas City's internal auditor will release the results of his investigation of the mayor's office. However, there is a sign of the Mayor's stubbornness shinning through:
NBC Action News was allowed, by a source, to see the report in its entirety Tuesday night.
The report purposely does not draw any conclusions or make any recommendations."
"KCMO General Auditor Roy Greenway accuses the mayor's office of not cooperating. The Council could take some kind of action but the will to fight has pretty much left them.
It took from April to June, plus a subpoena threat, to get answers from the mayor the first time.
Greenway asked more questions in August and didn't get answers until November 2."
Mayor Funkhouser is pretty much defeated.
He's now reduced to playing musical chair games with his Committee assignments and hiding in Brookside.
Funkhouser is no longer Mayor of Kansas City, he's just some guy holding the keys.
UPDATE: Former Communications Dude Joe Miller is mentioned a great deal in the report and he has an update on his insights into the report at The KC Dowtowner.

I just hope that potential mayoral candidate staffs are taking notes on such behavior, as Mayor Funkhauser should have to explain to the public why he refuses to cooperate with such audits when he campaigns on governmental transparency. "I'm too busy" is good a sufficient response.
This council will follow up on the Red Flag auditor's report when they grow some ethics themselves. They will whine and complain that they are "tired" of talking about funkhouser, or that they will just wait him out, or that they want to "Move Forward" Now just what the hell does that mean? "Move forward".. How can you "move Forward" away from clear violations, obstructing an audit and possible lying? How do you do that with a clean hand and a straight face? They are not worthy. They will join the ranks of Chris Koster and let this lawless mayor do his dirty deeds because it is "beneath" them to call for order and decency in city hall. It is beneath them to do the job that they were elected to do, which includes policing their governing body. They do not get to pick and choose which laws they will adhere to and which laws they will let other slide on. Our form of government works only when we have people willing to act honorably, or at least do the right thing when the huge public spotlight is shining on the misdeeds. This council will try to make it our fault for wanting justice.
