Kansas City Fails To Lure Figure Skating
KCUR news guy Dan Verbeck notes that after a serious bid this cowtown flubbed an effort to lure the national figure skating championships.
Sure, this some of the skaters had connections to the town that eventually won the bid (San Jose) but then again Kansas City has a stadium in the middle of Downtown that sits empty on a great many nights.
Also, the fact that San Jose beats out Kansas City for an event that could bring in $25 million to this town should scare the hell out of everyone hoping for the future of this town.

Really?! Because an ice skating event didn't come to KC we should be scared for the future of this town...
Sometimes it seems as though you just find ways to be negative....
Maybe we can fix the sewers now?
You know, do some things to make this place a little less like a third world country.
Or is there another convention that we need to start courting to make us feel like a top-tier city?
Speaking of KCUR, Im very disturbed when Walt Bodine, the elderly dean of KC radio is really losing it on his 10am show.
I suppose its irreverent to mention his diminishing mental abilities... but maybe the young girl who really runs the show be just a bit more assertive, start the show and bring WALT in, rather than have Walt bring YOU in. He's losing his finesse.
I dont want him to leave, I love even his grunts but don't wait for him, Gina. Start the show, intro HIM rather than hope he'll intro YOU without losing his coherancy.
The shows not starting so well these days. Fix that. Open the show, intro him, make it easier on him. Just open the show, say the topic and welcome WALT, rather than hope he is coherent enough to do it himself.
We all love him, want him there... but change the dynamic so as not to emabarass him on days when he's not quite a hundred percent. OKAY?

Self preservation for the skaters. Bring a bunch of talented white chicks into this hell-hole of a city center, yeah there's a great idea. Every black turd of a wannabe will be hanging out waiting for his shot at some tang. And might go bang bang to get after it.
