Loser Chiefs Will Give Great Access To Bloggers Who Don't Say Anything Critical!!!

The Chiefs beat the worst team in pro-football who happen to run with one of the most racist names in pro-sports which demonstrates how backward the NFL really is . . . Big deal.

What's more important to me today concerning the football playing chumps getting KC tax money is that they're attempting to co-opt one of Kansas City's greatest bloggers.

Having said that . . . and prefacing all of this with the fact that I respect Ramsey very much . . . He's simply wrong about his friendly conclusion regarding blogging and big media.
"A blogger getting this type of access is pretty darn cool! I’ve blogged about it before- bloggers and press can both exist- but it should be a partnership, not fighting against each other. Thanks again to the Chiefs- I’m always stoked to see any organization who understand the right way to tap and engage with bloggers."
He's wrong because the review of the experience proves my point. Not once did he say anything close to negative regarding the experience. Ramsey's smart and maybe access is more important than analysis but he's obviously sacrificing one for the other and that in and of itself represents a conflict . . . But I'll leave it up to somebody else to call the FTC mostly because I don't care.

On the other hand, Whitlock or anybody working in big media can point out the futility of Chiefs victory along with the arrogance of their management and while their access would be stifled, they'd still have a place at the table . . . This has never been the case for bloggers AND BECAUSE OF THAT until blogs become big media (happening faster than people think) they'll never be able to provide the traditional level of coverage but would be better off offering a perspective that isn't compromised by token access . . . Let's test my theory . . .

The Chiefs should invite Ramsey to another game with their extra special access.

And when they lose Ramsey might want to point out that

  • Their head coach isn't brilliant but an incompetent dweeb who let people think he had something to do with his former team's success.

  • Larry Johnson is old and slow and not worth the money.

  • The Hunt family needs to refund all of the Jackson County taxpayer cash they took if the team finishes with less than a .500 record this season.

Anything close to these comments would quickly end blogger access at Arrowhead . . . Which might be a great loss considering that TV blackouts are coming.

imo, no great loss either way. first, there are plenty of other resources on the 'nets to get information rather than bloggers, and better games to watch if they DO blackout home games.

Tony, not only do I appreciate being called out- I’m going to respond to it directly and update the original blog post.

Updated content and more on my opinion is posted here:

None of your three bullet points appear to be the point of Ramsey Mohsen's visit. Nor do they account for the business that is the NFL.

#1: We have a first-year coach in Todd Haley. He's yet to prove nor disprove himself, in my opinion.

#2: We could release Larry Johnson, but we'd be out our most talented (though I agree, he's no longer great) running back. He has no trade value to other teams.

#3: A conditional tax agreement with city based on a sports team's wins & losses? This is a childish thought and it would never happen. Anywhere. Besides, the investment in the stadium shouldn't be based on the merit of the 2009 season alone. It's a franchise. There are many more games and seasons to be completed at Arrowhead.

Now. Let's go back to Mohsen, because I think his journalism is worth defending. If Mohsen was a sportswriter, he could be expected to point out (educated) pitfalls of the Kansas City Chiefs, their ownership group, the coaching staff and the players. But he's not. He's a blogger who in this case gives Chiefs fans every where behind-the-scenes access to that press box too.

I enjoyed the post. It was good to see how the games are covered. Kansas City has plenty of writers behind the desks of The Star and on the airwaves at 610AM and 810AM to complain about the team. Why would the fans want to hear more of the same?

Everytime you post about sports, you come off as an "incompetent dweeb".

    all true.

don't know what you expected out of ramsey, but whatever it was, he doesn't do that.

he's a happiness blogger/photog. he's not out to bust anyone's balls. he does access and quirk.

i've met the guy and he doesn't seem to have a mean bone in his body, unlike some bloggers we know.

what do you expect from him anyway?
he does a hot wings eating contest, an apple store thing or two, jones pool and other nice things.

he probably doesn't live in his mom's basement either.

tony, you can be quite the little bitch sometimes. are you on the rag again?

Everyone has their thing, critical, snarky, happy, quirky, whatever. It's the variety that makes the spice of life. That includes Tony, Jack Harry, Whitlock and Ramsey. As for me, I am happy for the W; I am glad to avoid the mark of 0-16

St. Louis Rams fans might not be so lucky, if they don't beat Detroit when they play in a couple weeks.

First of all, isn't your picture kind of doing what you're jumping on Ramsey for? Showing a light in the pitch dark tunnel of the Chief's 2009 season? Cheerleaders? A happy beginning before you jump on the Ramsey and the Chief's case.

I read Ramsey's blog for enjoyment; he posts for enjoyment. I like our relationship like this. While he admits that he would like to become more critical, he stated at the start of his Chief's blog, "With my press access, I decided the angle I wanted to share was the 'inside' experience of an NFL football game from the 'press' perspective. It’s certainly something not everyone gets to see or experience." Guess you missed that part. Did he do what he set out to do? Yup, sure did.

Furthermore, your arguments are based on assumptions. Who knows what the Chiefs would decide to do if Ramsey had been as critical as you normally are. Maybe you should "test your theory" somewhere outside your own mind.
