Say it ain't so Santino :) I hope there is a provision that Funk has to vote yes as well. If they do this and let him off the hook for any responsibility for the mess he created, then it would be bad for all of us.
Oh well, getting the Bates lawsuit off the docket and into the settle column is a good thing for the City. Maybe that trumps letting the Feckless Funkhouser off the hook. I suppose whatever he says, the money that hsi and the Squid's actions behavior caused is as plain as the nose on his gruesome looking face... and he never was going to own up to this no matter what.
Off for chores... I wonder if the sales tax will go up to help pay for this waste of our tax dollars? Or what programs the City will cut to come up with the money for Ms Bates? Maybe a few more cops can get sat down? Who knows and does that really matter? It does but not in any tangible way allowing for discussion today.

If they vote yes for $500,000 it will surely be to cover up some of their own wrongdoing that will surely come out at trial. Why else would you vote for such an outrageous amount when you are paying an entire legal department to do this dirty work for you? It's not like they are worried about billable hours!

Funk wanted them to settle for $130,000, and she said she would have taken it a few months back but the city council threw a fit and wouldn't approve it. Funk tried to settle this case once and the city counci threw him out on his a$$.
I would prefer it went to trial, now Funk can claim vindication using his backward logic. A half mill is excessive. For 500k you can call me Orville Redenbacher and paint CRACKER on my front door. Now if the Funk and glo glo are as predictable as I think they are, they should say something in the next couple of days or weeks to get sued again.

This is what you get when amateurs try to run a big city. Funkhouser was never a politician and is in over his head. The City Council is filled with amateurs as well. There is just not enough brains, experience and integrity to get the job done.
As a result, the City is rife with patronage, TIF deals, and numerous Commissions with authority to dole out money willy-nilly with no oversight.
Just one exampe amongst many: It is utterly hilarious that Citadel Plaza has a .000000000009 percentage change of obtaining funding from the city in the midst of a recession and funding crisis. KCMO is having trouble paying for it's basic infrastructure needs/repairs and an adequate police force. That the City Council is seriously considering funding for Citadel Plaza speaks volumes to about their lack of competence.

Dan Ryan of Gone Mild tried to strong arm Beth Gottstein this morning at a breakfast meeting. Ryan is acting as an unofficial legal counsel to the mayor on this issue, and in doing so is might be violating ethics rules.
Mayor, you were not vindicated but there is no harm in that. Please make a statement and tell us how you are moving forward to lead this city.

In the beginning I thought the charges were trumped up. I thought Gloria was just annoying and a little "blue collar" but I've come to realize that she is a very hateful person.

See, allowing an obnoxious, unprofessional bigmouth into official city offices vis nepotism is not just an annoyance, it has REAL consequences. The city council was correct to ban her and the so-called mayor is an asshat for letting his inappropriate, foul-mouthed wife anywhere near city hall in the first place and for skirting the city council's ban with the ridiculousness of meeting in parks and libraries!
