Priest Holmes Wants To Stay At 22%

Former Chiefs Running Back Priest Holmes recently authored a fantastic blog post on the subject of life after the NFL. Without question the guy knows the challenges he faces and seems prepared to beat the odds.
"Sports Illustrated reported that within 3 years 78% of retired NFL players will be divorced or bankrupt. Without their fortunes, these players will be faced with a future of severe disabilities and health issues stemming from injuries received while playing . . . As for my take on the SI article, I realized that I am on the road to beating the negative odds stacked against retired football players. I strive to stay in the 22% of retired players who have been offered the opportunity to be a living legacy today and for years to come."
Still, ther's a downside to this post. After reading the thoughts of Holmes I can't help but lament that he was hurt and his career ended prematurely . . . Obviously, Holmes is an intelligent and insightful man . . . Sadly, the events after his injury led Kansas City to get suck with a scumbag like LJ to take his place without coming close to living up to his example.

  3. I miss PRIEST! He was one of the best Chiefs players ever. Very compassionate and caring about the youth of our city and a great player.

  4. Priest was the most dynamic Chiefs running back since Joe Delaney. He has a ways to go as a pundit ...

  5. Not only was he damn fine at his day job, he was a model citizen. And he writes a whole lot better than you do.
