Go Skateboarding Day 2009 in Kansas City



A rather nice, local Summer skateboarding Youtube clip in this insane heat sponsored by one of those skater shoe/apparel companies. Things to watch for:

  • Huge crowd of skaters (i.e. mostly young white people) in midtown. Two steps closer to a "renaissance" than the snobby art crowd.

  • The clip concludes with some nasty looking pool party that looks like one of the scenes from Kids left on the cutting room floor.

  • I want that "Down For KC" t-shirt at 2:50 worn by the funny looking skater with the broken arm.

    Other than that, the clip was a nice bit of business marketing disguised as culture.

      i was at the darkhorse the night before and a bunch of those dudes were rockin the down for kc shirts. i inquired about buying one (he said they was 10$) but the biggest size they came in was large. WTF . I aint even fat and i rock XXL. skaters got a fuckd up sense on what looks good. i guess i knew that since most of them use shoe strings for a belt
