TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! NEW YORK TIMES REPORTERS ASKING FUNKY QUESTIONS ABOUT KANSAS CITY'S MAYOR!!!

Mayor Funky is facing national scrutiny once again.

Just got word and then confirmed it with another politico . . .

REPORTERS FROM THE NEW YORK TIMES ARE CALLING LOCAL POLITICOS REGARDING MAYOR FUNKY'S OVERALL FAILURE!!!

They're asking about Kansas City's perceived stimulus fail . . .

They're asking about the recall . . .

They're talking about the guy's overall unimpressive record . . .

Let's not forget that NY Times folks are a lot more liberal than Wall Street Journal newsies who offered up a puff piece about Gloria Squitiro's feet (ew) . . . So maybe, this effort won't be such a love letter . . . I don't really care given that I've lost my faith in all print media . . . But more national embarrassment for Kansas City and our Mayor should be entertaining.

  2. The funny thing is that it isn't very funny to us.

  3. KC is missing out on stimulus money because neither the ATA nor the City had their act together. Huffer, the Council, the Mayor, and the City Manager all blew it big time.

Legislators in Jeff City will tell you - they had to wait for the city and the ATA to TELL THEM WHAT THEY NEEDED AND WHAT THE LOCAL DELEGATION SHOULD PUSH FOR. And when you get those priorities and projects at the very last minute (when other govt. entities have had their act together FOR MONTHS), you get left out.

I hope the mayor gets recalled; I hope Cauthen gets fired; and somebody needs to be slapping Mark Huffer around.

The complete lack of leadership in this city is appalling.

  4. The blame doesn't all go to Funkhouser Tony.

  6. I wonder what the NYT reporters thought of Gloria. I hope they have read the lawsuit and the depositions.

  7. That's why KC can never become a world class city because as long as the current leadership remains intact, KC will never get big. I really wish people here would realize this and realize their power to change things for the better. We need new leadership. Leaders who are not connected to special interest groups, leaders who have the experience and qualifications to overhaul the broken public school system, leaders who have the charisma and people skills to work with diverse groups, leaders who have the networking skills to establish and maintain strong and positive professional relationships with other leaders in the community and across the country and in countries abroad, we need progressive, forward-thinking people with creative and innovative ideas to replace the stale and stagnated career politicians , incompetent community activists and corrupt city officials that continue to work together in destroying this city and the morale of the people.

  8. I'm getting tired of Mayor Funkhouser and his wife, "The First Lady of Kansas City" making a joke of my City. St. Louis, Chicago and even Cleveland are making serious plays for stimulus money and only our Mayor is still hung up on light rail which the voters rejected. I don't know if the Recall will work but I do know that I'm never voting for Mark Funkhouser again.

  9. To be fair 5:03 . . . I had the water leak story before The Star and nobody bothered to give me credit.

    However, you have a point.

On the other hand, The Star post only got 406 reads and this post did much better than that . . .

In conclusion . . . Only d-bags from The Star bitch and whine about my AWESOME EXCLUSIVE TAG so I'm not going to lose sleep about my "credibility." Heh.

  10. So what has 40+ years of Democrat control gotten KC (and/or JACO) besides an inept government, lousy school system and divided community? Exactly whom has been keeping who down?

Anon 803PM... you are correct ---> the people are getting what the people deserve. For many it is a stolen future, for some a pathetic government run for the benefit of the high and mighty and for some a squandered chance to live in a safer, more modern, desirable community.

  12. why the city didn't get any money can be traced to the fact most of the city council were state reps at one time. don't blame funk. it was the relationships that they had made with the current legislators paid off. big zero.

  14. Tony, you dumb sack of shit, you are burying your lead. You have done this over and over in the past few weeks and the pressure on Funkhouser has lessened. Put your stupid comments about Downtown and reviving neighborhoods UNDER the Funk stories. I realize you are not that bright but you must keep that in mind. When you did it you had Funk on the ropes.
