Civil Right Legacy of Mayor Bartle Outshines Current Funkhouser Failure

A neat article from The Star today revisits the scouting and Civil Rights legacy of H. Roe Bartle. More than 50 years ago he integrated local Boy Scout Camps as part of his overall mission to promote the organization.

Currently, we're stuck with a Mayor that pretty much declared war on the local Latino Community and he mindlessly defends the racial slurs used by his wife with laughable explanations and attempts to divide and conquer any group which doesn't immediately fall into line with his policy wonk, Ivory Tower, impractical agenda.

Reading the article, I could not help but think that politically Mayor Funkhouser has nearly ruined 50 years of progress for Kansas City.

  1. Tony, you've made it obvious that your dislike for the mayor is personal, and I've always felt that it stemmed from the Francis Semler mess.

Gloria Squitiro is like salt in an open wound, and the fuel for your anti-Funk tirade. She frustrates me as well.

Your anger is warranted, but I share many of this mayor's goals, and would rather find ways to help him correct his mistakes rather than nitpick his faults.

This blog post reveals a lot.

And initiated decades upon decades of that organization's practice of aping Native American culture. If that weren't enough, our football team is named after him, "The Chief" H. Roe Bartle, and we've had to endure decades of that organization and its ignorant fans aping Native American culture.

So tell me what a Native American is anyway?

There were people living here in 1491 but they all came from somewhere else too.

I blame them for their lack of strict and comprehensive immigration laws.
