10 more lessons learned by Jason Kander
There's been a great response from a recent e-mail newsletter from Kansas City's State Rep Jason Kander on what he's learned during his tenure.
Here are his main points:
1. The Bully Pulpit can do big things.
2. House Republicans are not representing the mainstream values of the Republican Party.
3. Fiscal Responsibility is easier said than done.
4. The House makes the news and the Senate makes the laws.
5. A big thumb can be bad politics.
6. Nothing beats a visit from home.
7. Sometimes the best way to make change is to do it quietly.
8. Shepherding a bill into a law is a giant task.
9. Paying your own way is apparently a big deal.
10. It is possible to make real friends in politics.
Ew . . . That last one is definitely not a fact but I think a look at the guy's motivations is interesting. Read the whole thing for yourself . . . It's a bit overly optimistic but almost quaint to think that young politicos believe the system that has failed Kansas City so many times still works.

I'm already tired of Kander's self promotion. I've never seen such arrogance. Just shut up and do your job Jason. Everything you do does not require a press release telling the world how brilliant and special you are. If accolades are what you are looking for, perhaps you're in the wrong business. It's public service, not public relations.

Kander oozes arrogance and indifference if he doesn't think you are politically necessary.

Just what did Jason Kander do as an intelligence officer in Afghanistan?
When he tries to dance around an answer to that basic question, he sounds like his mentor Dick Cheney, "Don't ask questions because if I told you the truth the terrorists would win and our crimes kept you safe."
Kander claims to have been part of an intelligence unit; therefore, he cannot disclose what he did. Would his real record be embarrassing?
Did he just sit around the camp and drink beer and play computer games? When he ran for office he wrapped himself in the flag and played up that he was "a volunteer after the attacks of 9/11/2001?"
Or, if he did take part in intelligence activity, did he aid illegal "renditions" which led torture?
Did Jason Kander aid illegal activities that violated US and International law that served as a recruiting tool for terrorist organizations?
Did Jason Kander, in an ambition driven fit, make things worse for the people of the United States and unfortunate members of the US Armed Forces who are captured by our enemies and brutally mistreated because our intelligence services engaged in torture? In Iraq members of the US Army were castrated and murdered in response to war crimes ordered by Bush and Cheney -- is there blood on Jason Kander's hands? He will not answer that question!
Did Jason Kander provide support to torture? Will he show up in pictures similar to those that blew the lid off the abuses committed at Abu Ghraib that will soon be released to the world?
Did Jason Kander support or participate in torture? He has not delivered a diffinitive answer to that question, which is telling.
Either way, whether he sat around and drank beer or supported war crimes, Jason Kander is not the PT-109 hero that he presented himself as when he ran for office. That is the real reason why he will not give specifics as to what he did in Afghanistan. He should release his service record NOW!
Instead, Jason Kander continues to cover his service record in blue smoke and mirrors. As a reserve officer, he lists the US Army as his employer because he has been fired from local law firms based on shoddy work.
Jason Kander is a liar. He is a sham living off his Uncle's fortune. He is an overly ambitions kid, who puts out one highly crafted and carefully "framed" piece of propaganda after another.
I always figured he was just a file clerk. Good for him for serving at all.
All I know about Kander is that he needs a suit that fits. Look at that photo. He needs to quit shopping at Sears on the clearance rack for suits. That suit is dogshit.
Quit picking on Jason because he is a Jew and a conservative!
Kander has some real enemies in this small town. I wonder why?
Why do Jason and his wife Diana have so many enemies? They're only in their mid twenties.
And why does Jason make reserve military service front and center to all of his communications.

You're right anon 6:51AM. We don't deserve Jason Kander. We deserve a dedicated public servant, not a fake looking for higher office.
I wish I could like Jason, but I just can't. He claims he is a lawyer, a soldier, a politician, but all I see is excessive self-promotion. Too much self promotion from a guy who has been a lawyer only a little over 3 years and out of high school only 10. A cloud of unspecified dishonesty seems to settle around every claim he makes.
And why doesn't he mention his first big-firm employer? Wasn't it Lathrop? What happened to him and his wife over there? Did they send him packing because he couldn't be trusted with clients because of his propensity to exaggerate everything and make claims he's unwilling to substantiate?

Diana was let go from Lathrop (a Class A firm) overnight,which usually follows a fiduciary problem or maybe she hit on a partner;s wife too many times.
She landed on her feet managing an eighth run movie theater, after working for a former city council candidate who put her on his corporate account rather than pay her out of the campaign. Jo'mamma is a one termer.
Jason could not cut it at the Montee Law Firm and was told his services (to the extent that he presented any) were no longer needed last summer.
Now these two "lawyers" live off of a fund set up by his Uncle, according to a friend of mine who works at the Democrat Montee firm.
Jason might have got some good news today when it was announced that President Jo'momma is going to hide the next round of detainee abuse photos until a judge tells him to release them to the public. It seems that he finally figured out that undercutting the troops is bad politics.
I worked with Diana at Lathrop. Jason never worked there. She left and Lathrop tried very hard to convince her to stay. You are foolish.
In the legal world, there is a name for "lawyers" like the Kanders. It is: Hacks. No, they are not real lawyers. Real lawyers practice law; they don't avoid practicing law.
But, in their defense, I don't think the Kanders consider themselves real lawyers. They are in this political game to stay. And that is a fine profession as well.
Why would Diana, a Georgetown graduate, just leave one of the top two law firms in KC to manage a second rate movie theater? After that she was trying to manage bars, and now she trying to start a legal temp agency.
Why would someone with a high power degree, with the ability to make six figure incopme in her mid twenties, leave Lathrop?
She was asked to leave.
Same is true for Jason.
This is a very troubled couple.
She runs a multi-million $ company. But yeah, that's the same thing.

I'm looking in my press file now, at a Thursday, 4/23/09 story, page 45 of Ink magazine.
It's a full section "My Essentials" with a big picture of Diana entitled "Legal Specialist". It talks about her so-called company Kander and Rigby - legal temp services.
Last year Diana was starting up a "speakeasy" in Westport, and now this is the firm you're speaking of, Kander and Rigby legal temps?

Actually she has been spending a great deal of time bilking LGBT clients out of their limited estates, under the cover of being an expert on estates. I believe all she has done is generate billable hours and percentage commissions.

Leave the Kanders alone. There is nothing wrong with ambition or intelligence. They are young; so what? They are also very skilled in the political arena -- something that should be admired not criticized.
