Kansas City Turning into a Soccer Town

While I still think the sport is horribly lame, pointless and more tedious to watch than other people's home movies . . . Soccer is quietly undergoing a Renaissance in Kansas City.

Recently, Nick Sloan reported that The Wizards have moved into first place in their conference while playing to a sellout crowd.

While this is certainly good news . . . I still don't think it'll make the Super-TIF funded stadium any more profitable . . . But it's obvious that this town is desperately looking for some kind of glory to cling to and right now the Wizards will have to suffice.

I think people know the Chiefs will ultimately disappoint this year.

The Royals have only demonstrated a marked improvement when it comes to games that don't count.

Sprint Center: Still without the pro-sports team that was promised . . .

So now, Kansas City is celebrating the favorite activity of European dudes when they aren't swapping wives and advocating for Iran.

Some would celebrate the more eclectic appreciation of sporting events in Kansas City . . . I'm not one of those people . . . And I still believe that Soccer is nothing more than an excuse for a sport propagated by housewives in order to delay the realization by their children of their inherent lack of ability, talent and determination . . . So I guess it kinda makes sense why Kansas City would embrace this sport rather than dealing with the reality of our place in the world.
