Many Broke Americans Hate Brown People

Sanchez defends H-1B visa program which is nice but overlooks a simple fact:

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS "UNSKILLED LABOR" AND ALL IMMIGRANTS WORKING TO STAY IN THIS NATION CONTRIBUTE TO THE ECONOMY AT SOME POINT!!!

So, while some people feel comfortable supporting an underutilized government program, it's easy to forget that most immigration is currently "illegal" but still generates revenue and powers more businesses than most people care to realize.

  4. Run a small business, do you Tony? The nickels you make compiling this crap excluded, that is?

A huge number of those are NOT paying payroll taxes -- they're getting cash, or checks cut "off the books" by guys who can't report those wages without violating immigration laws.

Must be nice living down there in the basement, sheltered from the real world.

  5. People cutting checks off the books are Americans breaking the law, not illegal immigrants. So much for "a nation of laws" rhetoric.

  6. I will admit that I know a couple of families that have members here illegally. From what I can tell they pay their rent and other bills obsessively on time. They would not go to the emergency room unless it were life or death, and none of them get welfare. It's about avoiding interaction with anyone who will turn them in. I can't speak about all illegal immigrants, just those I know.

Yeah, and a HUGE number of these people pay payroll taxes that they'll never see any benefit from. Add to that the number of them that do pay income tax but fail to file a return and receive money back due to their situation, and the fear of dealing with government. I think we come out well ahead due to the hard work that 99.9% of immigrants, illegal and otherwise, put into this country.

  9. How can I become an illegal? No taxes, free medical care and a slacker work ethic. God Bless America.

  10. I wonder how many of you "Lou Dobbs" gringos ever complain when you get insurance money to reroof your house and the laborers are Mexicans. What you should do if you really follow your beliefs is call ICE then and there if you suspect them to be illegal. You will have to pay more but principals are principals right? I think most if not all of you will look the other way and take advantage of the lower price the contractor quoted you and maybe pocket the balance of the insurance money for yourself. VIVA MEXICO!

  11. I have personally asked a contractor if he has valid work visas for his crew. And you know what, he showed them. If they want the money they will follow the rules if pressed. No problem with people wanting work, just follow the damn rules like everyone else has too.
