Hey, Helling reports on an idea that won't even happen or will take at least a decade!!!
"Privatizing Kansas City International Airport could earn an estimated $1 billion for city operations and construction projects, supporters of the idea say."
In theory, I'm not against the plan (unless there is a dress code involved) . . . I'm just hoping that Hooters Air will be part of the equation.
Now privatize Arrowhead, the K, Sprint arena, and Kemper. I forget, no one would buy these for any price.
ReplyDeleteTKC...keep a close eye on this. This is not the dog pound or the lockup.
ReplyDeleteWhen you get a whif of the political chicanery behind this you'll see. Keep an eye on a small group of people in government who see this as a new revenue stream "for them".
The contract deal will have a component that includes a "Regional" Commission and power will be brokeded to Kansas.
The Commission deal will be brokered by a soon to be "termed out" and former Aviation Committee Chairman Bill Skaggs. He'll angle for the Chairmanship of the new body and will lobby to have current Aviation Director Mark Van Loh as the contractors manager (at more $).
The $$$ announced is also suspect. Chicago Midway is 3X the airport KCI is and a 99 year deal imposes declining $ value over the years. No way the deal is worth what they're saying.
Corruption. Johnson County influence. Labor oppososition. Perfect issue for you Tony
Trick to build a new airport
ReplyDeleteAnon 08:31 should chill. Chicago's contract is in trouble and avitation industry sucks. Chicago contractor is tied to citibank and john hancock insurance and they're broke (it's on the FAA website). Union loving Obama will strenghten labor who will oppose it.
