One more instance of violence near Gerry's Silver Slipper after a triple stabbing last week.
Two Men Killed In Early Morning Shooting
The shooting call came out at 3:30am Friday at the intersection of Independence Avenue and VanBrunt Boulevard.Observations:
Officers found a vehicle parked a parking lot shared by O'Reilly's Automotive and Jerry's Silver Slipper. A man was dead inside the vehicle. Another man was dead, outside the vehicle.
ISN'T IT NOW CLEAR THAT THIS IS THE WORST TIME TO CUT BACK ON POLICE FUNDING FOR KANSAS CITY?
Once again . . . The local murder count is on and it's not even Spring.
Explain to me how extra cops would have stopped this killing?

Since black folk can't seem to behave themselves when the weather warms up, how about we implement a temperature-dependent curfew on them
ReplyDeleteSay, if the day's high was in the 70s then you've got to be in by 10... if it hit the 80s then it's a 9 pm curfew, and so on.
Could be pretty groundbreaking.

More cops can't stop a crime by being at any one place. However these murderers have probably committed dozens of crimes and have been arrested many times before. They are still on the street because lesser crimes are not taken seriously. More cops can restore order and cut down on the chaos that is there now.

ReplyDeleteThe correlation is between culture and crime not race and crime. In a certain segment of the white population the criminal culture has taken hold just as it has in a large section of the black population. The lack of effective law enforcement only fuels that culture. Add in the ridiculous drug war and you have a huge societal problem.
ReplyDeleteTrim the fat and all that career structure and get back an orientation to serving. Cut the costs and use the savings for real police work. Back the cop on the street not the brass at the top. And the police department should not be holding rallies for support.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if this is an example of why we need more officers, but I live near this "night club" and am very concerned about the police force being trimmed. Response time is important, and they were able to catch someone who was running from the scene.
ReplyDeleteAnother issue that has been brought up in these comments, though rather disrespectfully, is race. Even in areas that are predominantly Latino, blacks still commit the majority of murders. This isn't something that is overlooked in the black community, but many blacks don't take kindly to white criticism... especially when people make racist comments about letting black people kill one another.
If you want to see murder rates go down, you should move back to Jackson county, join your neighborhood organization, reinvest in the KCMSD, and be a mentor to black youth.
