City Manger Wayne Cauthen STILL wins over Kansas City Mayor Funky!!!
Urban Times has a pretty great issue this month . . . As I noted earlier thanks to a TKC TIPSTER, City Manager Wayne Cauthen if the covergirl . . . He's also their "Person of the Year"
I have to keep reminding people that I'm not a Cauthen fan but I was thinking that the critics of the City Manager don't really have a lot of ammunition other than the typical racist drivel of their more strident ranks.
Cauthen's biggest drawback is that he's a relic of Mayor Kay's tenure that burdened this town with millions in debt and hoped that big ticket pipe dreams would save this town . . . Sadly, Mayor Funky hoped the same thing when he backed light rail but he was unsuccessful.
Nevertheless, I've compiled a quick list of things that Cauthen hasn't done:
So . . . I don't really have favorites among politicos but for all of his faults and despite the fact that his time as City Manager in KC is limited . . . Cauthen STILL wins over Mayor Funky who isn't anybody's Person of the Year.

Cauthen hired the underqualified Deb Hinsvark and L.T and they cooked up this disaster of a financing scheme which was then blessed by Chuck Eddy who was chair of the Finance Committee.

As a critic of Wayne Cauthen, it is not racist to say, he's NOT a city manager, has never been a city manager, did not come from a city manager form of government, and therefore has no idea of how to be a city manager. That's the problem.
Once again Tony has to boil all wayne cauthen detractors as racist. Here's a new flash... Of course the Ubran Times names cauthen as person of the year... it's just their attemp to prop up a failure of a black man. It pretty much the same as if the Minute Man Times selected The Funk as Man of the Year.
It's amazing how you compare the two. Mark Funkhouser should received the Citizen's Person of the Year award as far as I'm concerned. Wayne Cauthen is a joke and he know it. His office was full of pedifiles and porn pushers... I'm sure it still is.
It's interesting that you list what cauthen hasn't done, but failed to list what he has done. I'll do that for you.

I like the way you pass the blame to Kay but leave wayne out when he was instrumental in all the downtown failures.

There is all kinds of ammunition against cauthen and his backroom deals. Why don't you ask him how many of Kansas City taxpayers dollars have been funneled to consulting firms in denver. Why won't you acknowledge the fact that cauthen has sent MILLIONS to a company in Overland Park for copiers (run by another black crook), when other companies would have offered the same service for only hundreds of thousands.

Here's some other things Cauthen HASN'T done:
- Manage our city effectivly
- Spend our tax dollars responsibly
- Stand up for the neighborhoods, specifically in the Urban Core
Wow, all things I am more concerned about than our mayor's unhealthy obsession with finding his wife a city job.
Funkhouser is a terrible politician and is letting his wife cloud his term as mayor, but he's got the citizens priorities higher than Cauthen or either of the previous two mayors.

Deb Hinsvark warned that the bonds could be trouble. I think she was smarter than Wayne.
Kansas City CFO Deb Hinsvark called this coverage "very skinny" and said she prefers at least 120 percent.
Wayne should have listened to her.

Here's the problem with you Cauthen critics: you forget that Funkee has no positive record to stand on. You forget that Funkhouser has accomplished little and is the master of doing the three things that are the easiest to do: 1) criticize; 2) call a press conference and say "I told you so"; and 3) be a pessimist. How can you go wrong doing that?
Cauthen may be having difficulty with the budget today but I can assure you, the situation under Funkhouser would be even more disastrous.
The guy is clueless and should have never been elected. Unfortunately, there is not enough steam for a recall election and there's no political upside for Chris Koster to pursue a nepotism charge. Republicans defend one another.

Cauthen got man of the year from Urban Times since all that magazine is concerned about is courting people who help them sell overpriced downtown lofts and condo's represented by the magazine's owner, Christina Boveri of Boveri Realty.

i got a idea to help the budget have wayne and all the council people turn in there rental cars and drive there own that would save the city arround 12000 a month plus cut down on there travel and other hidden benefits that they receive and have them also pay there health insurance like the employees do
