KANDER BLOCKED BY MISSOURI GOP!!!

This is bad for Kansas City and once again proves that so many Show-Me State Republicans don't give a damn about this town or our political representation . . .
Republican Speaker Ron Richard blocked Rep. Jason Kander's (D-Kansas City) appointment to the professional licensing and registration committee.
The professional registration committee oversees the regulation of a variety of professions ranging from insurance agents to physicians. Kander remains on the Homeland Security Committee and the high-profile Budget Committee.
A select few other Democratic appointments were blocked, but only Kander did not receive another appointment as a consolation prize.
Here's the characterization of the move from Kander's press release:
In a late-night meeting between Republican and Democratic senior staff, Speaker Ron Richard’s office characterized Rep. Jason Kander ( D-Kansas City ), an attorney and Afghanistan veteran, as a “political problem” for the Republicans. Accordingly, the Speaker took the extraordinary step of blocking Kander’s appointment to the powerful professional licensing and registration committee.Kander, who was sworn in less than two weeks ago, is the only rank-and-file member of either party that the Speaker has limited to just two committees.
Here's the snarky quote from Kander which I like: "I came here to champion the economic agenda that gave Governor Nixon a twenty point victory, so this presents an obstacle,” said Kander, “but I’ve decided to take the advice of senior members and view this as a roundabout vote of confidence from the Republican leadership."
I have to agree with looking at the move this way but I have to note that Missouri Republicans have made these same moves before and it's not only what cost them the Governor's race but it's also responsible for them slowly losing their death grip on Missouri.

Kander will fold on his own. He is arrogant and crooked.
Jason Kandar was running for this seat for a very LOOOOOONG time. Welcome to the big leagues loser! He doesn't know how to be a viable politician. He will be put into a deep dark corner by Democrats and Republicans until he either learns that he is NOT special (I knew all of that fake self esteem crap in schools would come back to bite us on the ass) or he is voted out of office. I am ready to go to the polls tomorrow.
Give it a break already. Jason worked hard, won and had Mike Talboy, a friend of the folks Kander beat, tap him to help on the House Democratic Campaign Committee. On that committee he is working with Beth Low and Jason Holsman from the KC area. Obviously they see something to his value. Talboy can be mean and ruthless but he wants to beat Republicans more than anyone I have met. If Kander wasn't an asset he wouldnt be on the team.
Republicans are just telling the Democrats who they are most afraid of among the new generation.
Yes indeed they are. Talboy was lifted from Immigration in 2007 because god knows he would be a problem for them (and was despite that) and Kander will be as well.
Can Councilwoman Gottstein help out here?
Talboy sees Kander's Uncle's money, so he keeps an enemy close and drools.
I am sure that Kander is right next to Cheney and Rumsfeld in feeling that Obama should not look too hard at what was done in our name to detainees in Afghanistan.
He has never come clean about what he did over there. He just inferred that he was a front line freedom fighter. More likely, he just played on the computer and waited for beer call, but all this talk about his classified activities leads one to believe that he could have been in a support role to the renditions and torture that ruined this county's reputation around the world.
Quit with the lies yourself half-truths!
Jason Kander is a young leader and I am sure I know why he was targeted by the Republicans: He supports Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered (LBBT) freedom. His youth and vitality gives the LGBT community hope that someday we will be able to be married in the same way as straight people in Missouri. I am sure that is one big reason why the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) supported Jason early and vigorously in his primary against the Go-Along-To-Get-Along crowd in the Democratic party. Jason will be the voice of LGBT people in Missouri government as he climbs the ladder of success.
Someone like Jason is of course going to suffer from discrimination and libel.
Keep fighting Jason, we love you!
Jason's doing a great job. It's clear the Republicans just want to stop him before he gets started.
No way this narcissistic guy is doing a great job. He does not do anything UNLESS it promotes his self interest. Talk to me in 18 months, then the light bulb will click on above your head. I have seen worse than Kandar, But we need way better than he can deliver.
Arrogant and crooked? Sounds like he will be right at home in Jefferson City.
That's why he worked so hard to get there, he fits right in with the pond scum.
