CO-MAYOR GLORIA SQUITIRO'S KANSAS CITY SMUDGE STICK PART DEUX!!!

TV News Watchers and Star readers are no longer being kept in the dark . . . The story of Gloria Squitiro's "Smudge Stick" is now being broadcast and published far and wide to all of Kansas City!!!

So far, I think the write up by The Star was rather eloquent:
Warding off ‘evil spirits’ Gloria Squitiro twice lit dried bunches of sage, or “smudge sticks,” to rid the mayor’s office and staff members of “evil spirits,” according to former mayoral aide Joe Miller. The first time occurred just after Mark Funkhouser replaced Kay Barnes as mayor, Miller said. “She smudged the whole office, you know, at some point after we moved in … to try and get rid of the evil spirits of the Barnes administration.” The second smoking came as the communications team worked on a speech in which Funkhouser pleaded with council members not to ban his wife from City Hall. Miller said he thought it was hilarious. “Well, I’m weird, they’re weird, we’re a weird administration,” he said. “There was a certain amount of pride in the weirdness of it all.”
Kickass and awesome TKC Readers might remember an in depth discussion we had about this topic earlier in the week.

Sadly, this isn't the first time talk of the Mayor and the Occult at City Hall has been under discussion.

QUESTION: DOES KANSAS CITY REALLY WANT ITS PUBLIC IMAGE TO INVOLVE THE "FIRST LADY" PERFORMING OCCULT RITUALS IN THE MAYOR'S OFFICE?

Honestly, I'm just curious about how the Mayor is going to sell this one . . .

  • In the past the Mayor cited his endorsement of an old racist lady and her gun toting friends as a display of diversity.

  • Mayor Funky has blamed his inability to form a consensus on the City Council.

  • The Co-Mayors blamed the victim of racial slurs for Squitiro's insensitivity and lack of professionalism.

  • The "work at home" policy of Kansas City's Co-Mayors was met with frustrated accusations leveled at The Star.

  • And now word of Gloria Squitiro's Wiccan, New Age adherence to Hocus Pocus is ascribed to a disgruntled employee and an alleged lack of character.

So far, Mayor Funky's last remaining supporters have had to ignore a lot of embarrassing behavior but revelations this week put Mayor Funky's acolytes in the uncomfortable position of justifying law breaking AND the Occult. At this point, they might as well just provide a foot massage and get it over with . . .

Ritualistic cleansing of the office is a profound insult to Mayor Barnes and all other mayors who occupied that office.

Burning sage smells a bit like pot. Maybe the second time she did a substitution in an effort to get people stone enough to keep her there.

The City has a no burn ordinance and a smoke free ordinance...do we now need a don't light the smudge stick provision as well?
Smoke, whatever the source is an irritant. Couple this action with Gloria's mouth and Funk's whining....it is no wonder people are leaving in droves.
    Too unbelievable.

Tony, aren't you a Catholic? Funny that you, of all people, should attack somebody else for performing "bizarre rituals." But I guess "hocus pocus" is totally cool as long as it's sanctioned by enough sheeple.

Given that Mayor Barnes is still costing us money, we should have some way to rid ourselves of her failed P&L District. But we do not, so now we pay millions out of general revenue to just to pay for the bonds. Shouldn't have to do that. Government was hijacked by her. Funkhouser is just part of the downward flow of KC politics.

You do realize, don't ya Tony, you'd be dead now if Mr and Mrs Pendergast was running the city government and you treated THEM this way. And Nick Civilla, too.

The cigar pic reminded me of Kansas City's past.

BTW, I didn't see a link for the 100 year old Blog. Such a fabulous site. I have it linked on my site as "Entertainment for Man and Horse", a tribute to my late father who had a metal sign on his front door that said that.

Oh wait, there it is... "KC's 100 year old Blog". Most excellent. Wonder if they'll expand out to lawrence. I have a nice webpage about a maddox who rode with Quantrill's Raiders. I'll have to post it. But I'm lovin that site and was so happy State of the Line posted it.

that "old racist lady and her gun toting friends"... oh yeah, damn those people, wanting the law to be enforced and people to follow it.

that being said, all this occult business is disturbing to me. Are these lunatics making decisions related to city government based on occult practices?

Maybe Squid uses a ouija board when she's laying out executive policy?

what a jackass: ALL religions involve the 'occult' in the sense they are all based on faith-based superstious belief in imaginary deities.

    get a clue moron.

I think that I would have first washed the place with Clorox Bleach and then lit a bug bomb or two before using the sage stick if I had moved into the Mayors office after Kay Barnes.

Given the fact that Christianity was considered a cult at one time, I think the prayer breakfast activities ought to be banned too.

I personally salute anyone who has the guts to follow his or her beliefs...especially when people like you bash them publicly.

Of course, I understand your right to believe the way you do. I just don't understand what the big deal is with someone believing differently.

Does believing in something you disagree with really such a sin?
