The School Board votes tonight . . . I was going to cover the event. I promise. I was going to sit back and listen to speeches and forced applause and even some insightful remarks. I was right outside the building.
It's not that I'm completely cynical . . . There are a couple names on the list of candidates that could have made a change.
But I knew what was going to happen . . . And it turns out I was right.
The School Board screwed over the Latino Community and didn't really change much at all.
Here's a bit of the press release:
The Kansas City, Missouri School District (KCMSD) Board of Directors has selected two member-elects to fill its At-Large seat vacancies. The new member-elects are Cokethea Nicole Hill and Derek Richey. They are scheduled to be sworn into office at the Board’s next public business meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008. They will serve until April 2010.Yeah, it's business as usual as always . . . Latinos, white people, Black people and everybody else would be better off running away from The Kansas City School en masse than expecting any real change . . . For better or worse, that's pretty much what's been happening already for years at a time.
Sorry, I'm confused. you either covered it as a journalist or you didn't.
ReplyDeleteLets face it, school board meetings are way too boring for television, especially in a market where there are SO MANY school districts, too many to warrant routine coverage.
were this a smaller market, where most all viewers had kids in the MAIN district, it'd be worthwhile. But lets face it. just how many TV viewers have kids in the KCMO school district? Not that many.
This is television's delimma. Too many districts to cover, so don't cover ANY of them. Just cover the entertaining crime stories from the ghetto, and of course the missing beige white girls from ANY school district! Even if they run off with their boyfriends! Its all very uh, well ya know!
But no, no one cares aboutr black girls missing and living with their anties...or even light brown ones from Mexico. That's kinda YOUR thing, Tony. But most people who own computers (code: white people) the lot of the hispanic ghetto isn't really all that newswrothy, no matter what some basement blogger suggests!
Face it. Your 29th floor audience only endures your Mexican viewpoints with moderate sympathy... so long as you carry their water to destroy the FUNK!
They really don't give a shit for caremel colored people living outside JOCO. But they'll appear to give a shit about you and 'right to life' views, if it will get you to vote republican! Lets face it. They need you Conservative nuts...and without you, they can't win an election.
Like this last one! Had this last guy sucked up more to the religious nutcases, he might have won. But he didn't. ANd so they didn't give a shit about him! ANd so he lost.
WTF?
ReplyDeleteGive it up already Radioman. The Funk destroyed himself, save the conspiracy theories for someone more interesting than Funkhouser.
ReplyDeleteThe school board specializes in screwing over the community. Black, white, latino, they are equal opportunity.
Nobody is willing to do anything.
ReplyDeletei came to laugh at tony knowing how pussyhurt he would be if a mexican didn't get picked.
ReplyDelete/lol
backroom deals prevailed and one women even called the school board on it when she withdrew her name after giving her speech...everyone clapped. It was enlightening!
ReplyDeleteThe school board needs to be disbanded totally. Bottom line.
ReplyDeleteniggers NO WANT mexicans to share any power or $$$$$$$$$$$$!!!

YES, YES, YES. Bunch of bum fuck-ups who orgasm to power. They keep the administration of the KCMO school board heavy, which keeps the administration of the KCMO school board happy, and everybody's back get scratched.
How about teaching my KIDS, you fuck-ups? Because I can't afford to move to a better district.
I went to laugh and point at tony when they made the annoucements. Word on the street was that nobody was going to give a say to illegal mexicans in this country. I applaud the black people for standing up against illegal mexicans and homos. In tony's case it's a two-fer
ReplyDeleteHa Ha. How dare you. I hate this page.
ReplyDeleteComments above point to the need for a better urban school district. You all need some edjukashun!
ReplyDeleteI do believe that in order to make change in the School District you must have some faith in it and the people that so generously volunteer their time. How can you even dare comment on the way the candidates were chosen when you admitted to not even attending to hear the applicants speak. I for one know that the 2 people chosen for the board are young and have great passion to help change the district for ALL students, including the Latino community. You may want to get your facts straight about people before barrating them for trying to do something good for the children of KCMO.
