Local blogger Toast is too awesome to disagree with . . . But her recent post regarding light rail is informative if only because support of the nearly billion dollar plan requires a prayer and a bit of blind faith.

Light rial is a religion or perhaps better characterized as a cult. It not about transportation. It is about other things like symbolism of a shinny train. The city council which represents the zelots is not giving you anything to vote on but a taxing scheme. Read the ballot language. You give the city the money and they get to determine everything elese.

What is the route?
What will the council do if the federal government does not match the city's half?
Where would the route begin and end if the feds fail to match?
What is the rush?
Do you trust the city council and Mayor Funkhouser to make choices after the election. Do you trust them with condimnation rights? Do you trust them with 1.1 BILLION dollars.
This is not about transportation. It is about a boondogle with all sorts of political skuldoggery. If you think KC politics is currupt now, wait tell you hand them 1.1 billion dollars.
The light rail gods are demanding the sacrafice of a steer. With the steer gone, only the taxpayers are left to pull the light rail train.
