Kansas City Economy Completely Laid Out

Things aren't getting better . . . No matter how much the locals hope for change, ignore the obvious or bury their head in the sand:

  • Economy batters KC Life Insurance: "Kansas City Life Insurance Co. reported a $15.2 million third-quarter loss and a 28 percent revenue decrease compared with the same period last year, which it attributed to 'the broad and deep economic downturn' and the 'recent default and regulatory takeover of high-profile federal agencies and financial institutions.'"

  • Manufacturing tanks in KC Fed district

  • So, as d-bags in the metro "search for a bottom" (no homo?) to this financial mess it's important to remember that folks looking to make a buck or sell something are just a little more desperate and a lot more dependent on making everyone else think that the downturn in the economy doesn't have a real impact on this town.

And yet Mayor Funkhouser and the city council want you to vote a billion dollar tax increase for a train ride to no where. It doesn't go to the airport nor to the Union Station. A tax increase that will bring a 10% sales tax on hotel and food in certain areas of this city is unwise.
