Big price tag for more Kansas City cops

An interesting headline from The Star today: "KC police seek $45 million more to boost crime fighting"
Considering the murder rate this year, rampant property crime and more violence in the downtown area . . . This would probably be money well spent . . .
SADLY, MAYOR FUNKY IS FAR MORE CONCERNED WITH GETTING CASH FOR LIGHT RAIL!!!
Kansas City's current Mayor ran on promises that he would be "smart with the money" and kept on referring to his "principles" during the first months of his Administration . . . Now he's promoting a huge payout for a toy train set which basically indicates that the only thing he ever really cared about was self-promotion . . . And, of course, his wife's feet.

The KCPD wants 54 new officers and 45 mil. If an officer, benefits and equipment cost $150,000 per year they could hire 300. But instead of hiring officers they want 300 new cars. Most of the new cars will probably go to desk jockeys and PR officers.
With 168 hours in a week it takes 5officers to add one officer to a shift. 54 officers would add 10 officers to each shift. That is if all 54 were on the street which will never happen.
The asshole Funkhouser camapigned on a "more cops" plank. He didn't campaign on a "light rail plank, yet that is all he is spending his time on, when not working from home.
Send him a clear message of disapproval by voting NO! on light rail next Tuesday.
Its going to take more than 45 million to make the KCPD effective. Anytime an organization has a culture of laziness, bureaucracy and failure nothing changes until a large per centage of that organization is terminated and replaced by outside people.
Anyone know if there are more light rail events between now and election?
We voted for money to put on 20 more and never got them. Let them eat crow.
Quit using our Police cars when you are on private time.
They don't even pay for the gasoline.
Next the Police will be asking for money to fund the new TRANSIT POLICE. That is the only way they can keep it safe is to have Police on every train.
Bottom line... this city does not need light rail. Kansas City has the highest highway mile per capita out of the entire US. What we need are bridges that have more than two lanes going over the river. Whoever planned the current ones must not have been a forward thinker.
