TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! RUMORS CLAIM KANSAS CITY COUNCILMAN JOHN SHARP IS WORKING AGAINST THE VOLUNTEER ORDINANCE IN ORDER TO GET HIS GIRLFRIEND A JOB!!!
Begrudgingly, I have to give Mayor Funky credit for knowing that people, even City Council members, are interested in seeing their significant others do well.
Already TKC has exclusively reported (with the help of awesome tipsters) that Sharon Sanders Brooks most likely changed her vote on the Volunteer Ordinance because her boyfriend was now back in the good graces of Mayor Funky.
But Mayor Funky also earned a new ally in John Sharp given that a great many people around City Hall claim that the dude's girlfriend is soon to be considered for a job in the high paying (at least for favorites) Funky Administration!!!
And as much as I'd like to rant about the same old sleazy backdoor (hehe) politics at City Hall . . . I actually think it's very cool that John Sharp has a sexy, African-American girlfriend that's maybe 20 years younger than him and that he's willing to sacrifice just a tiny bit of credibility in order to hook her up!!!
C'mon, I think all TKC readers can agree that poon-tang ranks far above politics.
As for the Mayor's leadership on this issue . . . Clearly Mayor Funkhouser has set a precedent here that will mark his tenure. For Mayor Funkhouser, loyalty to a love interest is more important than ethical considerations, accusations of wrongdoing, racial slurs, public embarrassment or State nepotism statutes. Mayor Funkhouser has misled the council into making a similar conclusion. John Sharp and Sharon Sanders Brooks are now only mimicking the Mayor by allegedly seeking to benefit their love interests.
THERE IS LITERALLY A LOVE FEST GOING ON A CITY HALL NOWADAYS!!!
Never mind that this kind of patronage is not only sticky but also inherently corrupt . . . It now seems that City government is simply a place to earn favors for the person that you're sleeping with, which I guess that might be a slight improvement over politicos stereotypically wanting only money and power.
In all of this, I somehow still don't think Sharp is a bad guy. People have noted him as the Councilman who has done the most for Kansas City's Black Community and, really, there's no point in having any power in this world unless you can abuse it on behalf of a broad.
So, kudos to Co-Mayors Funkhouser and Squitiro . . . They've discovered that the best way to get to a Council person is through their pants.
UPDATE: THIS POST HAS BEEN CORRECTED. A BIT OF A RETRACTION HAS BEEN ISSUED. COUNCILMAN SHARP ACCURATELY STATES THAT HE RECEIVED NO FAVORS FOR HIS VOTE OR HIS GIRLFRIEND.

I now I see why Funk wanted to have the vote postponed for 60 days.......he had some jobs to fill. If true, that is pathetic but I'll give him due credit for being at least competent as a sleaze ball politican.

You know, I don't see anything wrong with it. This shows Funk is making friends out of old enemies and working on the weaknesses of his council. Good for him. Tony, Funk said he was gonna be the mayor. Not an angel. As for Sharp, one little job never hurt anybody.
It seems that the leader of the Orange Revolution has been lowered down to the basics... a sleazy old two faced lying patronage trading scoundrel. It's not the guy we were promised but who cares... it IS interesting to see Smart With Nothinghouser try to trade his way out of this. Just like Cleaver and Barnes were so successful at doing. Let's see if he can pull this off...
All of these backdoor deals seem to turn people off.
I live in the 6th and if I hear that Sharp's woman did get a job. Then I am never voting for him again.

Sharp's in a good position. He has a district that is both Black and White and if he can play the fence he can keep both camps happy.

I thought that Sharp was a mortal enemy of the Co-Mayors. I guess he placed feeding his loved ones ahead of not only his hatred of the Funk but what would be best for the City; getting rid of the Squid. I wonder what his colleagues will think of this maneuver?
On the other hand, it's good to see the debunked leader of the Orange Revolution getting down and dirty at the bottom of the political barrel. Not what we elected him for, but yeech, it's about time he got something done even if it's the putrid task of keeping his Co_mayor around for a little longer.
I can't believe my eyes though... the Council Titans voting against this ordinance are going to suffer the consequences with their constituents for this... TKC was right on the money when he posted the absence of any real support for the Funk on this and how inept, unsupported and bmubling he appears.

When John Sharp was on the Hickman Mills school board, he made fun of a fellow school board member whose wife was a district employee,implying that she only had the job because her husband was a board member. He often said he wished he could get his girlfriend a job. Well, it looks like that's finally worked out for him.
