TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! PRAYERS FOR GLORIA SQUITIRO!!! A LOOK AT KANSAS CITY'S CO-MAYOR BEFORE THE VOTE ON THE VOLUNTEER ORDINANCE!!!

I don't know about you, but I thought Mayor Funky looked a little choked up at the anti-Squitiro vote yesterday.

Promising to take things personally doesn't really seem like the leadership that Kansas City wants . . .

And another thing: Where was Joe Miller yesterday? The least experienced member of Mayor Funky's PR team was nowhere in sight at one of Mayor Funky's biggest public embarrassments. Like a crybaby, we heard that Miller threatened to leave the mayor's side (as Gloria's footstool) during the whole Semler debate but jumping ship during Mayor Funky's darkest hour seems kinda disloyal and like someone who shouldn't be trusted. I'd fire him if I were the Mayor or even the Co-Mayor but then again I'd never pay 80k for advice from a failed journalist in the first place.

Anyhoo . . . If Miller jumped ship, he missed a great show from what City Hall denizens say.

APPARENTLY GLORIA SQUITIRO WAS ASKING PEOPLE PRAY FOR HER AND WITH HER BEFORE THE VOLUNTEER ORDINANCE VOTE!!!

This info comes from a variety of sources along with a confirmation from one of the people that Gloria asked to pray for her . . . Apparently, "Kansas City's first lady" was a nervous wreck yesterday and was going around the 29th floor in a tizzy.

And on this I feel sorry for the broad because apparently, like most adults, she has failed to learn that not everyone she talks to is her friend . . . Especially when it comes to politics, especially at City Hall.

The 29th floor prayer vigil was apparently a pretty big distraction and a lot of people were a bit upset with the Squitiro because she failed to realize that just because her career as Co-Mayor was on the chopping block didn't mean that other folks with real work to do should suffer.

This impromptu prayer vigil is a big part of the reason why Gloria Squitiro shouldn't be in the Mayor's office. Of course people should have the right to pray if they want but there's a big difference between religious tolerance and the boss's wife telling you to pray for her and with her instead of doing your work.

Heaven knows why Gloria Squitiro has failed to realize that EVEN PEOPLE INSIDE THE MAYOR'S OFFICE WANT GLORIA TO GO HOME OR ELSE THEY WOULDN'T SHARE THE DETAILS OF HER EMBARRASSING, ALLEGEDLY ILLEGAL AND UNPROFESSIONAL BEHAVIOR!!!

Still, the Co-Mayors remain stubborn . . . Defiant is a word that's too lofty for the childish insistence that a spouse should remain in an office despite the rules.

The Mayor spent weeks fighting for Squitiro's presence in his office and he'll waste even more time trying to subvert The City Council's ordinance. The political parlor games have just started to come into play . . . Unfortunately, IF the Council stays united on this issue then the Co-Mayors don't have a prayer despite their inappropriate pleas inside City Hall.

Amazing. Amazingly inappropriate and unethical.

The council may have won the battle but lost the war. Almost all politicians think they are held in high esteem but in reality almost everyone thinks they are scum. Look for a slate of candidates to run as allies of Funkhouser next election. And don't be surprised if most voters will support the mayor.

It might surprise people to learn that not all the KC voters are Brookside libs or development lawyers. There are a lot of voters who actually work for a living and have been disgusted with KC for years. They don't give a shit about downtown, the employee unions or any little city programs. They simply want their streets paved and plowed and maybe a policeman to show up when their car is stolen.

When one does not "get it", personality. The mayor doesn't get it and his wife doesn't get it. This is not about them, it is about serving the city. She became the distraction not the volunteer. She became the court case not the volunteer. Whether they think it fair or not, it is an overwhelming distraction to the elected office.

At 12 to 1 vote, prayer is her only distant hope. The arrogance of power: to call on a higher force to save them from themselves.

It is ashame that one can trust no one. That may be the very first rule of political life. There was a reason for kings having food testers.

That's because, as a failed journalist, you're completely content being paid in junk food and given a mattress to sleep on in your mom's basement.

The poster above me (10:01) sounds like a councilman. I can't believe councilmen read this.

But Andrew you do and you should be studying right now. Living off your parents and the profits from the campaign right now.

And dude, give up the skinny jeans. You look like a douche.

What the Funky bunch have NEVER grasped for some odd reason is that THEY TOO are now politicians. Perhaps BAD politicians, but politicians nonetheless.

You think office politics is tough at City Hall?

You should see it in a TV newsroom where everyone's got an ego from hell.

Here's a great read:

If I was Gloria - I would make them physically remove me from City Hall, all while the TV cameras were rolling. It would be all over Drudge and the national media that the City Council had security "escort" the Mayor's wife out of City Hall for volunteering too much.

Yeah, that whole "Mammy" comment has nothing to do with it.

volunteering too much lewd comments directed at council members, staff, visitors to the mayor's office, meeting attendees, etc. When does a volunteer give staff directives? When is a volunteer put in the place of our mayor?

Tony_parkville... you may get your wish soon enough. Don't think for a minute that CAuthen isn't scheming about how to put the Squid out of our collective misery. And if he needs to cart her out, that is what he is going to do.

Uh, hello.?.?.!.while Wayne might like the opportunity to "escort" Gloria out of the hall, it is not his responsibility.
This falls first to the independent auditor, then the MO
Ethics commission who if upon review determines there to be a violation, will levy a fine (could be daily) and it is up to Funk's cash supply to determine how long she can stay. Jim Nutter Sr. take out your checkbook...
I figure this takes us into the range of the 2008 Christmas letter, can't wait for this one!
Who will have their finger up the mayor's a## by then?
