Here's a fact that everybody already knows but local media is too scared to note . . .
THE REASON FORMER CHIEF OF STAFF ED WOLF LEFT WAS BECAUSE OF THE MAYOR'S IMPENDING LAWSUIT ON BEHALF OF GLORIA SQUITIRO!!!Here are the reasons that City Hall insiders are citing when they spread this rumor:
Nobody, and I mean nobody leaves a $250k job at the outset of a historic financial crisis . . . This is just common sense and above all Mr. Wolf has a solid reputation as a pragmatist.
Wolf is abandoning ship not even halfway into the term. That simply looks suspicious and thankfully this doesn't seem to stem from any kind of health issue given that Wolf seems to be in good shape and is regularly spotted mowing his own lawn (sometimes on City time neighbors say).
This is important: Mayor Funky appeared frustrated today when anyone tried to press him on questions about this the surprise resignation/retirement . . . KUDOS TO THE MEDIA OUTLET THAT GETS WOLF TO GO ON THE RECORED ABOUT HIS REAL REASONS FOR PARTING WAYS WITH THE MAYOR!!!
For a long time the rumor circulated that Wolf wasn't allowed to do his job and the Mayor's wife Gloria Squitiro really functioned as Chief of Staff. The claim has never been denied or addressed but now Wolf is gone from his job for good while Mayor Funky is being cagey about what he's going to do regarding his wife.
Nearly everyone at City Hall expects the Mayor to sue. Mayor Funky thinks he's being smart by playing a stalling game . . . His tactics have now become transparent and easily predictable. Rumors that the Mayor is going to resign don't even seem that strange nowadays given that the guy has grown increasingly isolated and his public statements seem more erratic . . .
As this controversey drags on . . . Look for even more turnover among Mayor Funky's people as he continues to confuse marital loyalty with the duties of his office.
He can hire Gloria now! Funk got around the volunteer thing pretty easily.
This would be hilarious if it was happening to another city.

Smart With Nothinghouser didn't appear to be too happy about Big Ed Wolf's departure... I wonder why? I don't think that this is something that the likes of Yael T ABouhalkah can spin into a Funkhouser "win." Drummond chimed in that is was great for the Funk.. but he has been totally discredited and is viewed as both a nobody and delusional... at least by me.
Don't forget the whole house of Funkee cards was based on getting rid of Cauthen. Once Wayne was fired, Big Ed Do Nothing would've eased right into the City Manager spot and then the whole Orange Revolution supposedly would have been on. Except Wayne was smarter than both of them, building a solid base of support that Funk never did in all his years as Auditor and whatever support Ed Wolf had built had been jettisoned in the wake of his "retirement". I don't know what else Funk promised him but the court's decision that Funk lost the Wayne battle had to have been the final straw.
What a mess. Let's not forget what freakin' fun the trial is going to be.
Poor Chris Stigall. He seems to be the only cheerleader left for Mayor Funky. Seems like the Star (Even Yael Abouhalkah) seem to be tired of this guy. KMBZ Shannon, Parks and Jaye are sick of him. And I bet his approval rate in KC proper are 10% favorable.
Only Stigall seeems to be supporting the man. But, woulden't he want to support a winner? Funk has lost at everything in as mayor.
Getting rid of Wayne Cauthen. LOST
Getting suport from the council. LOST.
Light rail. Lost.
Keeping his wife at his side. LOST.
Illegal Gun promise. LOST.
Reducing crime and the murder rate. LOST.
Getting an NBA/NHL team in here. LOST.
Fixing the infastructure. LOST
Keeping jobs in the city. LOST.
I can go on and on. This guy is Bad News Bears of Mayors. I'm glad KC is a small city. Think of all the national headlines this guy would make if KC was a city the size of Miami or Atlanta. He would be the butt of Jayleno jokes for a month.
I voted for him. But, I regret it. The FUnk right now looks like a one term mayor.
Geeze, I have to get better with my facts. I understood Wolf was drawing retirement for about $120 and his salary was $125. Guess I misunderstood the facts. Thaks for the clarification TKC. I would hate to misrepresent anything otherwise that the facts as I hear Ed is a real good guy.

Funkhouser hired Ed Wolf as his chief of staff at a salary of $140,000.
His pension is $109,000, which comes to a total of $249,000 a year as chief of staff.
