KANSAS CITY SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER CALLS IT QUITS!!! SAYS THERE'S NO INTEREST OR WILL TO CHANGE!!!

The Kansas City School District is crumbling before our eyes.

Recent news that Kansas City school board member Ingrid Burnett resigned on Wednesday makes it clear that anybody who cares about their reputation is abandoning ship.

Her excuses for calling it quits are pretty solid, I can't say that I can really blame her:
“But it’s clear to me now,” she said, “that there is not enough interest in the collective will of this board to make change.”

The board, she said, is squandering too much time in the administration of the schools and is not focusing its energy on the district’s accreditation process or its search for a new superintendent.

The district received a 129-page critical review by the state earlier this year and is required to present a detailed plan by year’s end on how it will work with the state to pursue full accreditation by 2010. The district is supposed to set up community meetings as part of the process.

“We have not had one board meeting workshop or discussion on how we will respond,” Burnett said.

As for the search to replace retiring interim Superintendent John Martin, Burnett said: “We’re making it up as we go along.”
I'm not going to gloat here and cite the fact that TKC already noted that the School Board wasn't taking their accreditation seriously . . . Because I'm a blogger I'm only going to note the obvious:

THE KANSAS CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT IS FALLING APART AND THE TIME IS RIGHT FOR A TAKEOVER!!!

By all accounts, Burnett isn't a typical crazy-ass School Board member and her lack of confidence in the supposedly "new" school board is a clear indication that most talk of change is nothing more than hype.

Kudos for Mrs. Burnett. There is always a time when one can see that the battle must be fought in the streets not in the Board Room.

Break it up and start three school districts.

The time has come for Airwick, the ManChild, to step up and state in a deep, pulsating basso profundo ... LET'S FIX THIS HOT GHETTO MESS.

It's a shame that the board had to lose someone who actually gave a damn. Even bigger shame that the remainder of the board can't see beyond their own needs and work to fix the problems faced by KCMO schools.

Without a doubt Ms. Burnett faced an impossible position and leaving was the only way left for her to impart a message to the rest of the board.

Well she is another example of some one who ran for office and made promises and then when the going gets tough she fades into the sunset.

Hard to keep promises on a such dysfunctional school board. I believe remained as long as she could. Some one needs to take Simmons OUT!

This means that Marilyn the Queen gets to appoint another lackey to the board. Since Burnette was at-large, that means this quality individual can come from anywhere.

I guess this means that Ingrid is going to run for John's state rep seat in a couple of years...

Maybe Gloria Squitero is the person for the job. She can bring Funk with her to the job.

Let's hope that anyone but Rizzo's kid runs for the Burnett's empty seat in two years. Maybe not Ingrid...but ANYONE but that kid.
