It's time to abandon the Funky ship!!! Chief of Staff for Kansas City's Mayor calls it quits!!!

Already a lot of you have sent this my way . . . Many thanks!!!

Apparently, more than $250k a year wasn't enough to keep Mayor Funky's Chief of Staff Ed Wolf on board - He called it quits today.
Kansas City Mayor Mark Funkhouser has announced the retirement of Chief of Staff Ed Wolf.

Wolf was the former Director of Public Works and had retired from the City in 2003 after 36 years of service. He joined Funkhouser's mayoral campaign early and was an integral part of the campaign's success. He joined the administration as Chief of Staff.

"I was honored that Ed was willing to dedicate some of his well-earned retirement to helping me get my administration started," Mayor Funkhouser said.
Now Gloria Squitiro is officially the Chief of Staff and Mr. Wolf has to mow is lawn on his own time . . . I don't know if this is progress . . . But it's clear that Mayor Funky's closest friends are looking (running?) for cover, which should kinda make you wonder about what's coming next in the Mayor's troubled career as we see his allies move on to a hopefully happy, healthy and long retirement.

I'm not sure if he can get anyone to work in his office now. Mr. Wolf will still get his retirement check each month, but it will be less than half of what he got working for the mayor, which really entailed no duties except being enbarrassed, (and mowing his own lawn on city time).

Ed needs to salvage what is left of his reputation and tell that he isn't retiring. He resigned. Talk about PR terms.

There goes another light rail supporter.

Ouchy. You know Tony, you should show a little bit more respect. When a man comes to the end of his career and has to spend it massaging the feet of the bosslady, he has earned a break.

Good luck to you Mr. Wolf. You deserve a break.

Mr. Wolf had the integrity to keep trying to get Funky to "do right". As a famous poem of e.e.cummins says "There is just some shit I won't eat"

Another of the great people who helped Funky get the job has left the ship.

Oh sail on O ship of state with Gloria as first lady at the helm. Well we now know which way the wind blows.

You don't leave a $250K a year job to "retire". From all indications, Wolfe had a good gig going. For that kind of cash, a lot of us would take the heat. (But many of us would actually try to earn the salary.) There's more to this than meets the eye. Follow Wolf's career path and see if he stays retired or winds up as a "consultant" to an Architectural or Engineering firm who will just happen to get fat city contracts. This is the way it works in this city.

From the KMBC interview tonight, I hope that Mayor Funky goes to his cabin after his trip to NeverNeverland and stays there.

He has more in common with the wild animals than he does with the citizens of this city.

The original plan was for Wolf to become City Manager thus allowing Gloria to take over the Chief of Staff job at a very inflated salary.

Well, the Chief of Staff job is open and Gloria is still there ...

Squit was eyeballing the City Manager's office She TRIED to get the city to move Wayne to another floor. She wanted the entire 29th floor. True story. And yes Wolf was suppose to step in as City manager. squit's hands are all over the failed firing of Wayne. Cell phones were buzzing that week. They were strutting around gleefully. Then splat! The first of many.
Thursday the council rightfully over rode the veto. Ed Wolf did not support the veto. The man was damn glad that the bitch was kicked out. After the council session he meets with funk-ee. He has in mind a full staff meeting for the next day. He has plans to set a real agenda for the office. He is waking up and thinking, 'Man I can now do some real work.' Not so fast Eddie... funk-ee tells him that the only priority in the office is to overturn the volunteer ordinance. Wolf says, 'wait! You tried and failed. It's over, now let's get to some priorities like light rail, the sewer system. Getting crime down and neighborhood stuff back on our agenda.' Funk-ee says 'NO.' Hew thinks that anyone not on board with his single issues is against him. Wolf had to leave. Or stay in that office and lie.

Where were any of you last Friday at around 3:30 pm? Were you taking part in a staff meeting held alfresco in the Illus Davis Promenade? Wasn't squit 'charming' as she sat in on this out door staff meeting? funk-ee , what are you doing?

forgot to add... Wolf would be city manager and then hire squit..... at least that was the funk plan. How far Wolf was willing to participate is up to speculation. I am giving him the benefit of the doubt. He is not as corrupt as the mayors.
