Hey Kansas City, there's no such thing as a "First Lady" for mid-sized towns!!!
One of Mayor Funky's biggest arguements is that The City Council, TKC, and everyone how utters a word about his stubborness is somehow disrespecting Kansas City's "first lady."
Luckily, a very astute local blogger did some research and discovered:
THERE IS ALMOST NO RECORED OF A MAJOR CITY IN THE UNITED STATES USING THE TERM "FIRST LADY" TO DESCRIBE THE MAYOR'S WIFE!!!
“First Lady”? I have never heard of a mayor’s wife referred to in that manner before. Ever. Even the double dynasty of Richie Daley and years before his father the “boss” Richard Daley in Chicago never referred to their wives as the city’s “First Lady”. So when did this trend start? I wondered how did I miss it? Well it turns out I didn’t miss anything and it just started . . . This has been eating away at the back of my mind that I had to finally pull up the Google search and begin looking for all the references to “First Lady” of such a d such city across the nation.Once again, a local blogger points out the Mayor's ignorance and arrogance by doing a simple Google search.
. . . None of the 6,379 responses referred to an official "First Lady" of the city nor even Gloria Squitiro, confirming my belief that the term "First Lady" has always been reserved and designated for wives of Governors and Presidents.
