Out of the shadows: Lack of respect for media and constituents by the Funkhouser Administration becomes clear!!!
Tom Bogdon knows pretty much everyone in Kansas City. He's politically active, he's a reporter at times and his list of contacts in this city is one of the most coveted items among local journalists.
When I heard that he was ignored by Mayor Funky's people . . . I had to laugh at their arrogance or maybe just ignorance of a KC institution.
But it got worse.
Bogdon went public with his complaints and a jerky response from one of the Mayor's people (Crispin) just digs the hole deeper (heh) . . .
Mr. Bogdon:Think about that for a second. The Mayor's office is sending some young dude in his early 20's, just out of college, off to do battle with a guy who can call just about any politico in the State and get a sit down. Really, that's the way the want handle this one?!?!?!
I was surprised to see my name mentioned on your blog. Although you are frustrated, you are wrong in mentioning me as giving you the "run around." This last week I was out of the office tending to a personal matter and received one call from you. In that single call, you asked that I locate Kendrick Blackwood--you mentioned nothing about water bottles. You are incorrect in claiming that I ignored you regarding an issue you failed to ask me to address. I understand you are frustrated. However, I ask that next time you take your frustrations public, you do so in a fair and accurate manner.

Now more than ever, I'm just convinced that the Mayor and his people don't know what they're doing and I almost feel bad for the young Latino dude . . . Ahem, that is I might have felt sorry for the guy IF there wasn't a persistent rumor floating around City Hall that he banged the Mayor's daughter. Lucky bastard . . So what he looks good in a suit? No homo!!!
But all that funny business aside, this is yet another example that the Mayor's Office doesn't know how to treat people . . . Influential or otherwise, the Mayor has created a disconnect with Kansas City and instead of recognizing this mistake they respond only with Funkhouser's characteristic stubborness and arrogance.

I suppose it's okay that you keep reminding us that Team Funkhouser is staffed by the C Team and lesser lights. Alas, even though the staff's ineptitude is highlighted again and again, it seems that the leader of the Oranage Revolution, Mayor Smart With Nothinghouser refuses to change out these inept staffers and bring on a better and more experienced staff.

He might have gotten lousy treatment, but one correction. Bogdon ain't exactly the Ernie Pyle you make him out to be. "a guy who can call just about any politico in the State and get a sit down." That might impress a basement dweller such as yourself, but any real reporter can call politicians and get an interview.

Bogdon is a great guy but there is probably a reason the Mayor doesn't pay him any mind.
He works on the internet. You can automaticlly write anybody off when they mention that.
When IS Crispin in the office? He stays out on personal business quite a lot. Too bad he is being mentored by a really creepy couple called the funk-ees. His pay rate is way too high plus the city is paying for his college tuition. He has no reason to be disrespectful to anyone.

Poor ole' Dottie is out a lot with stressed induced migraines. But that may be her saving ticket out of the court room. She can check herself into the hospital again for those debilitating headaches instead of following the funk-ee game plan. The are denying everything in the lawsuit. They are lying. They will lie on the stand in court, what's that called? I hope Ed Wolf's son can tear himself away from the city board that he was put on long enough to take his dad in hand and explain just what perjury means. If they think that the plaintiff will give them a pass on perjury.... Think Again. Too many witnesses, TOO much documentation. Jeez, Galen will not be stupid enough to try to hide emails and memos. He is already doing a balancing act with everyone. He can not get cover from the funk-ees thus he can not afford to perjure himself.

Hey 1:09 -- May not be too many print publications in existence in the (near) future. Even broadcast journalists push their Web sites. A Raytown paper just stopped printing this week and will update news on its Web site. And The KC Star is preparing for more mass lay-offs. Anyone following politics checks out PrimeBuzz and other online sites. So dissin' online journalism is pure folly!

If the city is paying for his tuition, why is he going to Park? Why not UMKC or one of the Metropolitan CC's? You know - schools IN Kansas City.
Tom Bogdon is a very good journalist. I have found him fair over the years, even though I might have disagreed with the general tone of an article. Or have out right thought him to be wrong on a given issue. I have yet to be misquoted by Bogdon. I can not say that about Mr. Spivak at the Star. Bogdon knows how to push an noun against a verb with out sacrificing the truth.
