Jackson County Money Fight!!!

Here's a bit of a press release that was sent me way.

Check it:
The Jackson County Taxpayers Association filed complaints with the Missouri Ethics Commission alleging State Rep candidates Joe Volpe and Jason Norbury received contributions exceeding the legal limits. Missouri Statutes limit the amount of money a candidate may receive from Legislative Committees in an uncontested primary election to $1,675.

Joe Volpe received $2,000 from the 48th District Legislative Democratic Committee. Jason Norbury received $3,250 from the 48th Democratic District Legislative Democratic Committee and $3,250 from the $3,250 from the 47th Democratic District Legislative Committee, all contributions exceeding the $1,675 limit.
Here is some of the evidence they're touting:
Jason Norbury's July 08 report shows he received $3,250 from the 47th District Legislative Committee (Democratic) and $3,250 from the 48th District Legislative Democratic Committee. Click here for his report documenting the illegal contributions. Norbury is unopposed in the primary election so the maximum amount he may receive from any Legislative Committee is $1,675.

Joe Volpe's July 08 reports shows he received $2,000 from the 48th District Legislative Committee (Democratic). Click here for his report. Volpe also is unopposed and has a legal limit of $1,675.

Click here for the 47th Democrat legislative committee showing $3,250 to Norbury.

Click here for the 48th Democrat legislative committee showing $3,250 to Norbury and $2,000 to Joe Volpe.
Personally, I just wanted to be one of the first to break the complaint . . . Read up on it yourself if you'd like to know the details. I know you won't!!!

See, financial scandals in politics never get anywhere because they're not sexy . . . You have to hope the opposition fathers a love child, and then that the media isn't showing a rare instance of (oblivious) restraint because they don't want the information to hurt their precious Savior Obama or his VP search in any way.

UPDATE: WORD FROM THE COMMITTEES OF THESE CANDIDATES IS THAT THEY ARE ALREADY IN THE PROCESS OF REFUNDING THE CASH THEY RECEIVED AND DID SO AS SOON AS THEY GOT A LETTER FROM THE MISSOURI ETHICS COMMISSION INFORMING THEM OF THE ERROR.

  1. Bob Gough the man of ethics? Interesting...

  2. Norbury is creepy and Volpe is just plain weird.

Just the type of monkey's that Democrat bosses like Paul and Phil LaVota like to link up and parade around.

If the Republicans focus on these committees and run as reformers they still can beat the Dems and hold on to their majority.

  3. The first one that someone should look at is called Integrity in Law Enforcement.

  4. If you look at those reports you can see how the Demo's launder their money and get around the current campaign finance limits.

State party gives the committee 14K and then the committee gives all but 750 bucks to Jay Nixon.

Chere Chaney sure screwed this one up and has given the Republicans something to run on.

  6. Didn't Kraus have to return over $4,000 in excess limits as well?

  7. Kraus, like most other candidates, legally took unlimited contributions for a few months when limits were lifted. When the Supreme Court reinstated limits he was one of the first to return the over limit money.

That is hardly the same as not understanding campaign finance law and accepting, as Volpe has admitted he did, an illegal contribution. Volpe and his treasurer should know the law.

Worse, the 47th and 48th democratic district committees look horrible here. Expect the largest fines to be dropped on their treasurers. Ignorance of the law is no excuse.

  8. Aw damn. Looks like a campaign finance smackfight.

  9. There is some weird fucking shit going on in Eastern Jackson County concerning campaign financing. I hope we can get Phil LeVota back in charge at the County Committee to clean things up.

  10. This is just another pathetic case of fat, ugly GOPer Bob Gough trying to work the refs. He does the same old shit every cycle. Look, Bobbie, nothing is going to come of this. The money will all go back to the committees, be distributed according to the rules, and the Ethics Commission will be completely fine with it. They are a great bunch as long as you comply with their findings. No doubt this is all about whatever lying piece of shit mailers Willie Boy plans to put out this fall.
