Hooray!!! Meaningless press conference by Kansas City's Mayor Funkhouser highlighting his failure to fight crime!!!
Today, Mayor Funky is putting on a press conference (in lieu of any real leadership) regarding the local murder rate.
Coming into office crime didn't even rank in the Mayor's top five priorities.
At the beginning of last year there was gang war that went unmentioned by Mayor Funky.
The Mayor's anti-gun work went over like a lead balloon a couple of weeks ago.
This effort seems equally reactive and without much merit. A local reporter told TKC that the press conference was planned to avoid any tough questions from journalists who usually take off for the weekend.
Once again we have a Mayor that is more concerned about how he looks on TV than actually doing anything substantial to work with the community and fight violent crime.

How the Funk looks on TV??? He looks GRUESOME. On TV, on the radio, in the office, stuffed into his car... anywhere and at any time. He is just a gruesome looking dude. Why is why, as an aside, I refer to the Funk and the Squid from time to time as the Gruesome Twosome.
Hope he brought his whole hee haw gang to the press conference, it's so much more interesting when his entourage is in tow.

Ha, you left out the part about how he told you that you had no credibility and the crowd applauded.
What has Tony done? He has the guts to raise this issue and address the root cause of the problem (and I don't like the raging asshole). The R*A* is right to be critical of the Mayor, the Chief and the Prosecutor. The murder rate has climbed and climbed and climbed and only now do we see the gang of three together. Kanatzar in particular appears to be a big hypocrite. The soft on crime Prosecutor lets a guy walk away from the death penalty after he kills a little girl by chopping off her head and lets two serial killers walk and then wonders why crime is up? Give me a break. Funky, Corwin and Kanatzar. If they are the answer then the question must be who can't stop the rising murder rate.
We used to want the Funk. We want him no more.
